“You don’t need to feel guilty. This was my choice, and I don’t regret it,” Vincent said calmly. “If I kill Ryan, then you’ll be
mine.”
Nina glanced at Vincent and replied coldly, “Even if Ryan wasn’t round, I still wouldn’t choose you.”
She didn’t hold back at all.
Vincent felt a sharp pain in his chest. “Why? I love you no less than Ryan does. Whatever he can give you, I can too. So why do you choose him over me?”
Vincent suddenly stood up, his emotions running high. “I was the one who met you first! He’s just some guy who showed up later. Why does he get you when I was here first?”
Nina looked up at him, her expression calm. “It’s not about who came first.”
“Then what is it?” Vincent just couldn’t wrap his head around the fact that Nina would rather choose Ryan over him.
“We’re two of a kind,” Nina said, locking eyes with Vincent. “You and I are both way too intense. You’d pull me into all sorts of crazy things.
“But Ryan’s not like that. He’d always be the one standing between me and whatever’s coming, always protecting me.”
After a pause, Nina added, “And most importantly, I don’t love you.”
She’d been with Ryan for two years, and whenever trouble came heir way, he’d always step up and deal with it himself.
Even though he knew she could handle anything, he just had to protect her.
He made it clear by what he did that he was the one she could always rely on.
Vincent was different.
She’d known Vincent even before she met Ryan.
They’d known each other for ten years.
She saved Vincent.
To Vincent, she was his lifeline.
He was obsessive and stubborn, always dead set on being with her.
Whenever she wanted to do something risky, he’d just pull her right into it without a second thought.
He never bothered to talk things through or help her figure out if it was really worth it.
The psych evaluation Vivian saw back at the Swanson place was the real deal.
Because of what happened to her as a kid, Nina ended up with a serious mental disorder. She just couldn’t control her emotions and would spiral out of control at the drop of a hat.
Scarlet even brought in the top experts in the field to treat Nina but it was all in vain.
That was until Nina met Ryan.

Ryan could be a bit overbearing, but he always talked things through with Nina, helping her figure out what was best. And whenever she started to lose control, he always knew how to stealy her.
With Nina, Ryan was always the rock, never letting his emotions get the better of him.
Back then, Nina didn’t really understand what love was.
All she knew was that she found comfort in the calm Ryan brought to her world. She simply enjoyed being aro
Ryan always looked after her, making sure everything was okay
It was only when she was with Ryan that Nina felt she could truly rely on someone else.
Even Scarlet, for all she did, could never give Nina that sense of security.
Scarlet just taught her to be tough, to look out for herself.
But only Ryan made her feel like she could finally be her true self.
Vincent had thought of a thousand reasons why Nina wouldn’t pick him, but it never occurred to him that it was their similarities that kept her from choosing him.
“That’s exactly why we belong together, Nina. No one gets you as I do,” Vincent insisted. “Ryan can’t even look out for himself. How could he ever look out for you?”
Nina looked up, her voice cold and steady. “He only got caught in your scheme because he cares about me too much.
“Vincent, I called you here today to warn you. Stay away from Ryan. If you mess with him again, I’ll come after you myself.”
Vincent let out a bitter laugh. “You really are ruthless.”
But a second later, Vincent was back to his usual self. “But I’m not giving up. Once I’ve decided on someone, I’ll never back down, not even if it kills me. Ryan dodged death this time, but next time, he might not be so lucky.”
