Chapter 512
Meanwhile, Lily caught sight of Nina in the ballroom, chatting with people, and for a second, she thought her eyes were playing tricks on her.
She stared several times before she finally confirmed it really wa Nina.
Lily was fuming. She marched up to her and asked, “Nina, what are you doing here?”
She was about to lose control.
Lily thought, exasperated, ‘Why does Nina show up everywhere go?’
During her time in Betrico, not seeing Nina around, she had no idea how good life could be.
Ever since she got close to Elliott, she’d hit several milestones in her studies, and her dad even called her personally to congratulate her.
Growing up, no matter what she accomplished, her dad had never treated her any differently.
She felt that being with Elliott was hands down the best decision she’d ever made.
This guy was like her personal good luck charm; he made her life shine.
Things were going so well for her now that she’d almost forgotten all the trouble Nina had caused her.
Just when she thought life would stay perfect, Nina popped up again.
She thought, ‘No way.
‘Is this girl toxic or what?
‘Why does Nina always show up wherever I am?’
Every time she ran into Nina, she got totally owned. Now she was honestly scared.
She just had this gut feeling that Nina was here today to stir up trouble for her.
Nina glanced up and caught sight of Lily’s face, so eerily similar to her own that, if she hadn’t done a bunch of DNA tests, she might’ve really believed Lily was her actual older sister.
Their resemblance was just off the charts.
Seeing the nervous look in Lily’s eyes, Nina curved her lips into sly smile. She said, “I came to see you, Lily.”
Lily was speechless.
Lily thought, ‘Damn it’
She was right. Nina was here to stir up trouble for her.
Every time Nína flashed that smile, Lily knew she was in for it.
And today, she wasn’t just smiling; she actually called her,
Lily’s alarm bells went off.
Nina outshone her in every way, smarter, prettier, and they looked almost identical. Someone like Elliott could easily a girl like her.
‘Damn it, Nina. Isn’t Ryan enough for her? Now she’s coming after Elliott, too?’ Lily thought.
Lily clenched her fists, forcing a smile. She said, “I don’t think that’s necessary. I heard Nina’s getting married soon, so she’s probably swamped with wedding stuff and won’t have time for dinner with us.”
After saying that, Lily turned to Nina, asking, “Isn’t that right, Nima? Ryan?”
Nina shot a mischievous smile and replied, “Ryan’s been spoiling me, won’t let me lift a finger for the wedding. So I’ve got plenty of time tomorrow.”
Then she turned to Elliott with a teasing look. She asked, “You’re Lily’s boyfriend, right? You two kept your relationship a secret from the family, huh? I could’ve been picking out gifts for you guys already.”
Lily was speechless.
Lily thought, ‘Oh, give me a break.
‘Like you’d ever actually get me a gift out of the goodness of you heait.
‘Yeah, right, like I’d ever fall for that.'”
Lily was cursing Nina out in her head, but on the surface, she kept it together, forcing a cheerful smile. She said, “We together, so we haven’t had a chance to tell the family yet. No need for gifts; we’re family, after all.”
“That’s exactly why I want to get you a gift,” Nina said after a moment’s thought. “How about this, Mrs. Swanson has al wanted the formula Grandpa left behind. I’ll give it to you guys my gift, wishing you both all the happiness.”
