Lily’s eyes widened in disbelief. She asked, “Wait, what? You’re actually giving me the formula?”

“When you get married, they want to make sure you have something to fall back on. So they want you to have this formula as part of your wedding gift. Since we bumped into each other today, I’ll just give it to you now.”

As she spoke, Nina took the formula out of her purse and handed it to Lily.

Lily took the formula with shaky hands, feeling like she was in some kind of dream.

But when she saw the handwriting, it was unmistakably Samuel’s she was hit with another wave of shock.

She thought, ‘Not only did Nina not mess with me today, she actually smiled and handed me the formula?

Nina raised an eyebrow at Lily, who was still in shock, then shot lliott a half-smile. She said, “We’ve got a few friends to catch up with, so I’ll leave you two. See you tomorrow.”

If he didn’t know Nina so well, he might’ve actually thought she was being all sweet and thoughtful.

Nina shot Lily a sidelong glance, then walked off with Ryan to the other side of the room.

Jason had been watching from the sidelines for a while. Once Nina and Ryan headed off, he finally stopped staring at Elliott and made his way over to them.

Jason gave an awkward grin, saying, “You went on a mission and didn’t even think to bring me along?”

“It was a top-secret op,” Ryan said.

Jason didn’t press further. He turned to Nina and said, “Nina, I didn’t think things through last time and ended up causing you trouble. I’d like to toast to you to say sorry.”

Nina’s lips curled into a subtle, playful smile. She said, “Just make sure you show up for the wedding toast.”

Jason’s eyes clouded over.

He thought, ‘Wedding toast?

‘Looks like you two won’t get the chance after all.

Jason kept his feelings hidden and said, “Nina, I know you’re a medical genius. I’ve got a friend who’s really sick, and I was wondering if you could check him out. He’s just upstairs in the hotel; do you have a minute?”

Nina’s grin widened, a hint of mischief in her eyes. She replied, Sure.”
