Alex started to panic. “S-Stop right there. I’m warning you, I’m the Carter family’s heir. Hurt me, and my dad will destroy you Swansons.”

Nina stayed silent, keeping her pace.

As she got closer, Alex freaked out and shouted, “Lily, help me. This bitch is out of control.”

Lily snapped out of it at Alex’s yell. She stumbled over, face pale as a sheet. “Nina, you-”

Before Lily could finish, Nina sent her flying with a single kick. Her voice dropped like ice. “Trash. Not even worth talking

to.”

Lily fumed. But before she could get a word out, Nina grabbed Alex by the collar, her voice dangerous. “Which hand did you use to hit Ethan?”

Alex had whacked Ethan with a steel pipe. But with all the chaos, Nina couldn’t tell which hand he’d used.

Alex went ghost-white, too terrified to speak.

Nina frowned, “Not talking? Fine. I’ll break both.”

Before Alex could even blink, his hands were suddenly crushed. And nobody saw how it happened.

Then, Nina dropped a kick on Alex’s leg. The sound of his bone snapping made everyone cringe.

“That’s the interest,” Nina said, calm as ever.

Alex howled in pain. “You bitch, you’re dead! I’ll make you regret this.”

He yelled at his guys, “What are you all standing around for? Call my dad, now!”

With both hands crushed, Alex couldn’t even dial his phone.

Without missing a beat, Lucas, one of the guys, pulled out his phone and dialed Richard, Alex’s dad.

As soon as the call connected, Lucas put it on speaker and tossed the phone in front of Alex.

Alex shouted, “Dad, you gotta come save me. A bitch crushed me and my hands and legs are wrecked. Bring as many people as you can.”

“What? She’s got a death wish,” Richard roared. “I’ll be right there

Nina was just about to go after Lily when she heard that. She paused, settled on an undamaged couch, and crossed her legs.

“Ethan, back to your birthday,” she said, her voice flat.

“Huh?” Ethan blinked in confusion. “We’re still celebrating?”

He thought, ‘How can we possibly celebrate after all this chaos? Besides…

Ethan glanced at Alex, then said to Nina nervously, “Maybe we should bail. This is way too crazy. We can’t explain this to our family.”

He wasn’t worried about himself; he was used to such stuff. What really made him nervous was Vivian losing it and blaming

Nina.

“Why should we leave?” Nina said coolly. Isn’t Alex’s dad on his why? We’ve got to give him a proper welcome, right?”

Ethan’s mouth twitched. ‘Welcome? More like he’ll be lucky to survive.

Everybody knows Alex’s dad treats Alex like gold. After what Nih just did, there’s no way this is gonna end well.

Ethan was worried sick. But as Nina wasn’t budging, he could only brace himself and sit down with his buddies.

Simon, who’d watched everything from the bar, walked over and said to Nina respectfully, “Boss, should we continue the performances?”

“What?” Ethan shot up with his eyes bulging. He looked at Simon then at Nina, totally baffled. “Nina, did he just call you ‘boss’?”

‘Did I hear that wrong? Or did the manager just mess up?’ Ethan thought, his mind spinning.

Nina ignored him. “Keep going,” she told Simon.

She shot a cold look at the ruined cake and snapped, “Order a new cake.”

“On it,” Simon replied, heading out.

As he passed Alex, he stopped and smirked, “Midnight Club’s been around for years. Nobody’s ever tried messing with our boss. You Carters are quite impressive.”

With that, he walked off without a second glance.
