Lily’s face immediately darkened. 1.5 thousand a month? Seriously?’ Lily thought, her heart dropping.

“That old witch is trying to ruin me,’ Lily cursed in her heart.

“Fine, I agree,” Vivian said. She answered for Lily without a second thought. Lily just bit her lip and stayed silent.

Once everything was settled, Sarah walked over to Ryan. “Thank you for standing up for Nina, but next time, could you be a bit more gentle? My old bones just can’t take that kind of excitement.”

“Apologies, Mrs. Swanson. I got a bit anxious since it was about Nina. Next time, I’ll be more careful,” Ryan replied, respectful and polite.

Sarah shook her head, then took Nina’s hand. She looked like she wanted to say more, but in the end, she just sighed, “Nina, I’m sorry you had to go through all this. Just give Grandma a little time, okay?”

Nina glanced at Lily, then replied calmly, “Actually, I need some time too.”

Before today, Nina always thought Vivian just didn’t care about her because she was too dumb in Vivian’s eyes. And as for Lily, Vivian probably liked her just for her so-called brains. What a joke.

If Ryan could know what she was thinking right now, he would definitely feel wronged. He just didn’t like Lily. Honestly, he wouldn’t have just dropped it today if it were up to him.

But Sarah ran the show in the Swanson family. And since Sarah was the only one Nina truly cared about, Ryan backed off the moment she spoke up.

Once everyone else had gone to their rooms, Sarah finally made her way back to hers, with the butler helping her along.

Once they were back in the room, the butler finally spoke up, “Madam, after everything Lily did, why did you still let her stay?”

Sarah shrugged off her coat and lay down on the bed. “Look into that right away. I want to see what’s so special about Lily that Vivian’s willing to go this far for her.”
