The next day. Nina was woken up by the commotion downstairs She headed downstairs, clearly annoyed.

Downstairs, the Swanson family was at a loss for words as they watched Richard pleading before thern, having completely lost his dignity. Some of them could hardly believe their eyes.

The Carter family was even more influential in Riverdale than the Swanson family. Countless people in Riverdale would kill for a chance to work with them.

Even the Swanson family had once tried to get a project from th Carter family.

But back in their grandfathers’ days, the Carter and Swanson families had been at each other’s throats, almost to the point of

all-out war.

It wasn’t until both grandfathers passed away that things finally started to cool off between the two families. Even so, the Carter family still wouldn’t give the Swanson family any contracts.

The Swanson family’s future wasn’t what it used to be. No matter how many times they tried to sweet-talk Richard or begged for a project, he just ignored them.

It was always the Swanson family chasing after the Carter family No one could’ve predicted that today, the tables would turn, and now it was the Carter family begging the Swanson family instead.

Everyone was surprised, but not gonna lie, it was pretty satisfying. It was like Richard just got totally humiliated.

“Mrs. Swanson, it’s all my useless son’s fault. He messed up and offended your granddaughter yesterday. Please, don’t hold it against us.

“The Carter family was built from scratch by my father. If it gets ruined in my hands, I won’t be able to face him in the afterlife,” Richard begged, voice full of desperation.

“I’m sorry, Mrs. Swanson. As long as Nina can spare the Carter family, I’ll do anything you ask,” Alex stammered, almost choking on his words.

Sarah was stunned for a long moment before she finally found her voice. “What the hell happened?”

All she knew was that yesterday, Lily had Alex go after Nina, and then Ryan put him in his place. She hadn’t bothered to ask how Ryan handled it.

She figured at worst, Alex just got roughed up a bit. ‘How did things end up with the Carter family about to go under?’ she wondered.

“The Carter family is going bankrupt.” Richard choked out, tears streaming down his face. “Ever since last night, the Foster Kamily has been crushing us. In less than an hour, we’ll be finished.”

In fact, it only took Ryan an hour to push the Carter family to the brink of bankruptcy. Richard had to scramble to call in some favors from his business partners just to keep things from falling apart.

But that only made Ryan come after them even harder. With no other options left, Richard finally reached out to that person, who managed to stabilize the situation for now.

But even that wouldn’t last long. In an hour at most, the Carter family would be history. That person said they’d call Nina today and told Richard to come to the Swanson residence and wit.

Nina, still groggy from her late night and a killer hangover, was oken up by all the racket downstairs. She looked like she was ready to murder someone. “Get out,” Nina snapped.

Richard’s heart nearly stopped. He pleaded, “Ms. Swanson, I’m begging you. Just spare the Carter family this once. Whatever

Before Richard could finish, a voice colder than winter sliced through the room from behind him. “You really think Nina needs anything from a family that’s already got one foot in the grave?”

Ryan lifted his long leg and strode quickly to Nina, his eyes locking onto Richard. “I underestimated the Carters. Did I fail by not bankrupting you in one night?”

Nina glanced at Ryan, a little surprised. She hadn’t expected anyone to last even one night against Ryan’s methods.

Richard’s face turned as pale as a sheet at Ryan’s words. That person said they’d call Nina, but Richard had no clue if Nina could really call the shots with Ryan.
