Martin cleared his throat and stepped out of the crowd. “Nina, it was just a joke. There’s no need to get so serious. Do me a favor and let it slide, alright?”

He paused, then quickly added before Nina could respond, “The Mercer family is close to us. Don’t make a scene. Grandma wouldn’t be happy about it.”

He knew Nina always listened to her grandma, so he figured bringing her up might make Nina let it go.

However, Nina just glanced up, her voice cold and detached. “Who the hell do you think you are to tell me what to do?”

Martin felt awkward. He glanced at the crowd, then lowered his voice. “I’m your big brother. Even if you’ve got issues with me, don’t go take it out on other people.

“Lydia is going to be your sister-in-law one day. If you make a big scene and embarrass the Mercer family, you will hurt her. Nina, if you still want a place in the Swanson family, you’d better stop.”

Nina lifted her head indifferently. Suddenly, she raised her foot, making Martin flinch instinctively.

“Why are you suddenly trying to act like a caring brother now? I’m in a good mood, waiting for Julian’s striptease, so you’d better step back and don’t ruin my fun, or I swear I’ll break your leg.”

Martin was pissed, but he didn’t dare blow up. He could only grumble, “Lanelle, you’re pretty famous. Aren’t you worried about trashing your reputation by joining Nina’s crazy antics?”

Elaine laughed out loud. “Reputation? I don’t give a damn about hat. I only care about my mom and Nina. If anyone wants to mess with Nina, they’ll have to deal with me.”

Martin just stood there, totally at a loss for words. Even if the Swanson family and the Mercer family teamed up, none of them would dare mess with Lanelle.

Martín stayed quiet for ages before finally getting to his feet and saying to Nina, “I’ve warned you. If you’re dead set on this, whatever happens next is all on you.”
