But…

When several medics rushed over to a large soldier, half his body covered in blood–Beau Buckley–and tried to lift him, he pushed them away with a shaking but firm hand.
“Don’t… worry about me…” Beau’s voice was hoarse and broken. Every word took everything he had. “My… mental power… is collapsing … I’m done… Save the ones who still can be saved…” His pupils were shrinking and dilating unevenly–a clear sign his mental power was breaking down.
“General, I’m not making it either… Save the supplies for the others…” Nearby, a young soldier slumped against his teammate, his face pale and lifeless. Faint blood trickled from his eyes, nose, and mouth.
It wasn’t just them.
Soldiers who knew their mental injuries were severe–basically a death sentence by the kingdom’s standards–were using their last bit of willpower to refuse treatment.
“Knock it off!” Cristian’s shout exploded like thunder across the port, filled with authority- and pain held to the limit. “You’re soldiers! You’re my soldiers! Every one of you, lie down and
get
treated! That’s an order! The doctors decide who can be saved, not you!”
His sharp gaze swept across the wounded who were trying to give up, then his eyes locked onto a young officer, pale as a ghost, being held up by his comrades–Elmer.
One of Cristian’s adjutants. One of his best assault fighters.
At the most critical moment of the battle, Elmer had shielded Cristian so he could land the finishing blow, taking a suicidal Phantommare mental shriek head–on.
To pull him out from the insects‘ last physical counterattack, Cristian had taken a hit himself
-a blade–like limb that could tear through armor. That was how he got the injury on his
arm.
Even so, Elmer’s mental power damage level was already at a terrifying 82% in the preliminary scans.
Under the kingdom’s current Mental Power Injury Treatment Standards, anything over 70% was considered severe and irreversible, with almost no chance of survival. Over 80%, you might as well start planning the funeral.

“Understood!”

Cristian’s command hit like a shot of adrenaline. The hopeless look in the soldiers‘ eyes shifted–just a little–replaced by obedience and a faint spark of hope.
The wounded who had refused treatment stopped resisting. They let the medics carry them.
The
port was still full of grief and pain, but order quickly returned. The only sounds left were the frantic footsteps, the whirring of hover stretchers, and medical officers shouting instructions.
This was Cristian’s Shattered Star Legion. Discipline and loyalty were carved deep into their bones, even at the edge of death.
“Cristian!”
A rushed voice cut through the noise. A man in a white coat came running over–Travis Donovan. His hair was messy, and there was no “welcome back” or polite greeting. Just pure panic.
“Your parents sent you a package, right? Has it arrived? Where is it?” Travis’s words came out like rapid–fire bullets. He grabbed Cristian’s uninjured arm with surprising strength.
Cristian froze for a second. He had just come back from battle–his body and mind were still heavy. “What package?”
“Oh come on, the life–saving stuff!” Travis’s eyes were red as he pointed at the critically injured soldiers being rushed to the ICU. “Your soldiers‘ lives might depend on it! Potatoes! Sweet potatoes! Strawberries! Whatever else is in there! The things your wife, Elizabeth, sent!”
“Elizabeth?” Cristian frowned, even more confused. “Why would she send things like that?”
Before leaving, he had transferred her a large amount of money–just doing his part in their basically meaningless marriage.
He thought that was the end of it. So why was she sending him things now?
And how were they “life–saving“?
“They heal mental power!” Travis almost shouted, drawing attention from people nearby. “We don’t have comprehensive large–scale research yet, but early clinical tests and feedback from injured patients show over 90% effectiveness! In patients with mild to moderate damage, their numbers dropped significantly after eating those fruits and veggies! Now hurry! Where is it? If we wait any longer, it’ll be too late!”
