Because of his stupid impulse, the family had been living on liquid supplements for the past few days.
Luckily, Tycoon Farm was finally selling eggs.
Vance got
dressed and walked out of the bedroom.
His parents were already awake.
His father, Logan Lawson, was sitting on the couch, sipping coffee, while his mother, Esme Lawson, was on the balcony doing her morning stretches.
When she saw Vance come out, Esme couldn’t help asking, “Vance, are you sure we’ll be able to buy Tycoon Farm’s Cluckoo Eggs today?”
“Absolutely!” Vance said, patting his chest. “I checked Tycoon Farm’s announcement yesterday. They officially go on sale today! They never fake anything!”
“Yay! I can finally eat eggs!” Raymond had just gotten out of bed. The moment he heard his
dressed. get He turned around and ran back to his room to father’s words, his lit
eyes up.
Esme walked into the house with a smile. “I’ll go with you. So many people have been waiting for Tycoon Farm’s eggs. They’ll probably have a purchase limit. One more person means we can buy ten more eggs.”
Logan set down his cup and stood up. “I’m coming too. We’ll buy as many as we can and save them for Raymond.”
“Grandpa! Grandma! I’m going too! I want to come with you!” Raymond shouted anxiously from his room.
Before Vance could say anything, Melanie got out of bed too. “Why don’t we all go together? It’s still early. We can buy the eggs first and still make it to work on time.”
Esme clapped her hands. “Sounds good! Then we’re all going!”
Logan nodded in agreement.
So, early that morning, all five members of the Lawsons-Vance, Melanie, Raymond, Logan, and Esme-headed out together.
They marched toward Mercury Plaza with excitement written all over their faces.

The line stretched from the entrance of the plaza, wound around one corner, then another, and disappeared into the distance.
Instead of feeling worried, Vance grinned when he saw the long line.
“Great! This is great! The more people, the better!”
Melanie rolled her eyes. “Are you here to buy eggs or just enjoy the crowd?”
“You don’t get it.” Vance rubbed his hands together. “This means everyone believes in Tycoon Farm, just like I do.”
The family of five joined the line.
In front of them stood an older woman carrying a grocery basket. Behind them was a young mother holding her child’s hand.
The line moved forward little by little. No one complained. People chatted and laughed while they waited.
Raymond squatted on the ground, playing on his device. Esme and Logan stood together, supporting each other. Melanie leaned against Vance’s shoulder while Vance kept stretching his neck, trying to see the front of the line.
The sun climbed higher, filling the plaza with warm sunshine.
After waiting for nearly an hour, it was finally their turn.
Vance walked up to the display refrigerator and looked at the boxes of pale green Cluckoo Eggs inside. For a moment, his eyes stung.
He remembered how badly Seafarm Group had treated him, how unfair it felt to be blacklisted, and all the times they had mocked him whenever he went there.
But now, he had finally bought eggs from Tycoon Farm.
No blacklist. No one was making things difficult for him. No sarcastic comments.
Instead, all he got was a friendly smile from the clerk. “Hello! How many would you like to buy?”
“There are five of us. Ten eggs each. Five boxes!” Vance’s voice shook a little.

The clerk quickly took five boxes of eggs from the display refrigerator, neatly stacked them together, and packed them into a shopping bag.
Vance took the bag and held it close with both hands, as if he were holding a priceless treasure.
Logan, Esme, Melanie, and Raymond helped divide up the boxes, handling each one with extra care so none of the eggs would crack.
Five people. Fifty pale green eggs. They rested quietly in their boxes, glowing softly in the morning sunlight.
