Her Divorce, His Downfall (Sophia and Damian) novel Chapter 172

Chapter 172 Breaking Point

Damian had never touched another woman besides her. Not a kiss, let alone anything more intimate.

And his wife had not only kissed another man right in front of him, she was now telling him she’d slept with his uncle. How was he supposed to endure that?

Every word she spoke was a shard of poisoned glass, driven deep into his chest, grinding his dignity as a man into dust beneath her heel.

His jawline clenched so hard the muscles twitched. His throat worked, but no sound came out.

Even the fingers gripping her chin trembled. His wounded gaze bore into her, and when he found nothing in her eyes, no remorse, no guilt, only razoredged mockery and frozen hatred, Damian felt like he was going to cough blood.

He wanted to devour her whole just to end this madness.

It took a long time before he could rein himself in. When he finally spoke, it came through clenched teeth.

You’re that desperate? Can’t even wait a single minute? What, was I not enough for you?

The moment the words left his mouth, his hand slid up from Sophia’s waist with practiced ease, found the soft curve it was looking for, and squeezed. His eyes pinned her down. Was I? Answer me.

Sophia had just gotten out of the shower and was barely dressed. With their bodies pressed flush together and his hands on her like that, she wanted to die of humiliation.

It had been so long since they’d been this close. She’d lost all tolerance for Damian’s touch.

Tears of shame sprang to her eyes. Her face burned crimson. She bit down hard on her lip and spat, Damian, you’re an animal.

Yeah. I am.

The sight of her reddened, tearfilled eyes carved a fresh wound in his chest. His grip softened, and his arms wrapped around her waist, pulling her tight against him. His voice came out raw and broken.

Maybe I am. But even an animal is still your husband. Anything I do to you right now would be perfectly within my rights.

I told you, I have ways to prove you’re Sophia. The only reason I haven’t is because I don’t want to hurt you. Do you understand that?

I don’t understand anything. His words only fueled her rage, mixed with the helplessness of having her weakness squeezed. All I know is that you’re a disgusting creep.

Ha.Same old deflection. The darkness behind Damian’s eyes nearly spilled over. He couldn’t help resorting to intimidation.

I can show you what real disgusting looks like, Mrs. Hall. Wanna find out? We’ve done it plenty of times. One more won’t matter.

Their bodies were sealed together with not an inch of space between them. Sophia felt the unmistakable change in him and went completely still, not daring to move a muscle.

Damian, don’t you dare.Sophia fought to keep the fear out of her voice. It came out trembling, pleading. I don’t want to. I’m not feeling well. Can you just

Her voice faded to almost nothing. Can you please just let me go?

Since her return, Sophia had been nothing but cold steel and sharp edges. This was the first time she’d softened her voice and begged him for anything.

The torment in Damian’s chest finally eased, just a fraction. His arms loosened their grip. He pressed her head against his chest 3/7

and murmured, Don’t be scared. I’m not really going to do anything. I justI’m in so much pain right now. I just need to hold you.

His body heat was staggering. It burned through Sophia’s skin and locked every muscle rigid. His familiar scent wrapped around her, flooding her senses, making it hard to breathe.

She tried to lift her head for air, but a muffled voice came from above.

Don’t move. Just let me hold you. Please. I’m begging you.

He sounded like a stray dog that had been kicked to the curb. Damian had never been this vulnerable in his life.

Even when he’d faced death against Sebastian Crowe on Cloudspire Mountain, he’d been cool, composed, and arrogant to the last.

When had he ever lowered himself like this for anyone?

Something was very wrong with him. Dangerously wrong.

Sophia didn’t dare provoke him further. If he actually snapped and forced himself on her, she’d be the one paying the price.

Pick your battles. Small sacrifices for the bigger picture.

and let him hold her.

The menace in the air hadn’t fully dissipated. The arms around her waist suddenly tightened.

Sophia’s eyes flew open. Something was wrong.

Before she could react, Damian dipped his head. His searing lips, urgent and desperate, closed around the delicate skin of her neck and bit down.

Not a kiss. A bite.

Like an animal marking its territory.

A hot sting seared through her. Sophia froze for a split second, then erupted into violent struggling.

She braced both palms against his chest, fingers digging into his shirt so hard the fabric crumpled. A furious snarl tore from her throat. Damian, get off me. Don’t touch me!

She twisted away frantically. The skin of her neck reddened from the friction. She was losing her mind.

But her resistance only poured gasoline on the fire. Damian didn’t loosen his hold. He tightened it.
