Chapter 179 Damian’s Crisis and the Reassurance
The phone call Damian received during his sudden outburst, along with Aaron, Rhea, and Elaine’s so–called “affairs“, had Sophia on edge.
She absent–mindedly ran her fingers over the palm he’d held, as if his warmth still lingered, and his words “Sleep well” echoed in her ears.
If Damian survived this time, was it fate’s way of sparing him?
He’d just been discharged from the hospital, and she’d stabbed him and sent him right back. She dreaded to think what the Hall family would do if they found out.
Samuel, Damian’s beloved uncle and a colonel in the army, would never let her off.
And Eleanor, if she learned that the woman she doted on had killed her beloved grandson, would probably faint on the spot.
As Sophia’s thoughts spiraled, weariness seeped into her bones.
The events of the night had taken their toll, and her eyelids grew heavy. Before long, she drifted into a deep slumber.

Mercy Grace Hospital, a private facility known for its high–end privacy.
He’d barely settled on the emergency–room bed when the door burst open.
Weston and Lucas rushed in.
They’d dropped everything as soon as they got Damian’s call.
Their faces paled when they saw the wound on his chest, and their initial worry turned into shock and distress.
“Damian, you just got out of the hospital today. What the hell happened? Were you stabbed?” Weston rushed to his side, brows furrowed.
He gently touched Damian’s uninjured arm to make sure he was stable, then, suppressing his anger, said calmly, “I know you called us here for a reason. Hold your horses. Let the doctor tend to your wound first.”
Lucas, hot–tempered as ever, charged to the bedside. His voice rose in a mix of anger and anxiety. “Damian, who the hell has the guts to hurt you? They’re digging their own graves!”
Never one to hold back, Lucas was hot–headed and wore his heart on his sleeve.

He snapped, “Damian, you’re back in the hospital on your first day out. Give me a name, and I’ll go tear them apart right now!”
Gritting his teeth against the pain, Damian shot them a warning look.
A bitter taste filled his mouth. The person who had stabbed him was Sophia.
The woman who wouldn’t look back even if he admitted his mistakes, the one who seemed determined to end his life.
He never imagined she would actually dare to strike him.
The blade had pierced his heart, figuratively and literally, yet he knew he deserved it.
Still, he couldn’t let Weston and Lucas go after her.
Weston’s “Annual Gala of Honor” and his grandfather’s eightieth birthday banquet were fast approaching.
As Julian’s fiancée, Sophia was expected to attend these social functions.
He didn’t want his best friends to misunderstand her, hence the urgent meeting to set the record straight.
More importantly, surgery required a family member friend6

only option.
If anything went wrong on the operating table, they needed to know his final wishes.
Sensing Lucas‘ extreme agitation, Damian spoke slowly, his tone detached and steady.
“Lucas, cool it. Let the doctor work first. I called you here because I have things to say.”
Lucas retorted, sounding aggrieved, “Damian, I’m just worried about you!
“You nearly died! This is a knife wound–it almost went through your heart.
“Have you thought about your grandma? Your parents? And Bella?”
He paced back and forth, fuming, itching to find the culprit and settle the score.
