Her Divorce, His Downfall (Sophia and Damian) novel Chapter 30

Chapter 30

Her answer didn’t surprise him.

Damian clapped his hands. Liam jogged over and handed him a manila envelope.

He took it with practiced ease, then tossed it onto the stone table beside them. The dull thud*made Sophia’s heart jump.

“Take a look.” His voice was terrifyingly calm. “Your precious little cousin, Chloe.”

Sophia’s fingers trembled as she opened the envelope, heart pounding.

Inside was a stack of high-definition photos.

Chloe and a young man in a delivery uniform sharing a bubble tea at a street corner.

Another showed their silhouettes walking hand-in-hand ⚫ into a cheap rental apartment. There were more photos

from different scenes, all clearly taken without their knowledge.

“What do you think he’d do if he found out his precious. daughter’s dating some low-level delivery boy?”

Sophia’s breathing quickened.

She flipped to the next document. Stella’s file.

A printed screenshot of chat messages practically burned her eyes. A sleazy manager was pressuring Stella to hit up drink parties and entertain clients.

[Refuse and we’ll blacklist you.]

The words stabbed into her like needles.

Her eyes watered.

“Your best friend Stella.” Damian bent down, lips near her ear, voice dropping low. “I’ve got plenty of videos of her at those parties on my phone. If those leaked? Imagine the shitstorm. How long do you think her Best Actress dream would last?”

. Sophia’s head snapped up, staring at him in disbelief.

He’d investigated everyone she cared about. Found their weak spots. Figured out exactly where to twist the knife.

Then used them as leverage to back her into a corner.

“You…” Her voice shook. “You actually investigated them?”

“Just doing my homework.”

Damian straightened, looking down at her. “I don’t fight battles I can’t win.”

Sophia’s fingers clenched the documents until her

knuckles went white.

She stared at the photo-Chloe’s carefree, radiant smile.

She thought of yesterday’s video call. Stella was waiting patiently on set between takes.

Her heart felt like it was being crushed by an invisible fist. She couldn’t breathe.

The sunlight was still warm. She felt frozen to the bone.

any business rival.

Damian had used surgical precision to destroy every defense she had.

“You bastard.” Sophia slowly raised her head, eyes bloodshot as she glared at him.

Damian looked down at her, lips curling slightly. His tone was calm. Almost cruel.

“Mrs. Hall, you don’t have a choice. Send Isabelle to prison, you destroy them. Let Isabelle walk, everyone’s happy.”

“Damian…” Sophia’s voice trembled, breaking. “You win.”

He held out his hand for the pre-printed settlement letter.

Sophia’s pen touched the victim’s signature line. Every stroke felt like a knife carving into her chest.

. When she finished, she collapsed against the wheelchair,

completely drained.

Damian watched her sign. His lips relaxed-barely.

Seeing Sophia looking like her soul had been ripped away, his heart clenched painfully for no reason.

He’d gotten what he wanted. He felt zero satisfaction.

Instead, it was like a boulder crushing his chest. He could barely breathe.

Damian reached out to wipe her tears. Sophia jerked

away.

She shoved the signed letter at him, eyes ice-cold.

“There. Keep your word. Don’t touch Chloe or Stella.”

Damian shoved his hand back in his pocket. Fist clenched tight.

“Of course. You keep your end, they’ll be fine.”

He paused, looking at her stubborn, frigid face. His tone softened.
