Her breathing quickened. Her words spilled out, broken and raw.
“I’ve been terrified of tight spaces since I was a kid.
Because of you. You did this to me. At The Hall Residence -the closet in the west wing. You thought it’d be funny to lock me inside. Said you’d let me out soon.
“But you forgot. Your laughter with your friends faded… until I couldn’t hear anything anymore.
“That closet was so small. So dark. I couldn’t breathe. I pounded on the door, screamed your name until my voice gave out. No one came.”
Tears fell without warning. Her voice cracked.
“I don’t know how long I was in there. I passed out from
fear.”
Her tear-filled eyes locked onto his-accusing, agonized.
“Then Uncle Julian found me. He was passing by, heard the silence, knew something was wrong. He prie heddocks

Grandmother beat you for it. You apologized. But the damage was done. I’ve been afraid of small spaces ever
since.
“Damian, are you really going to put me through that nightmare again?”
For a moment, something shifted in Damian’s expression. Childhood memories threatened to surface-
Then-
A pained moan cut through the air.
“Ah… Damian, my stomach hurts. My face…”
Isabelle’s face twisted in agony, tears streaming down. She looked utterly pitiful.
“Can you… take me to the hospital?”
Damian’s thoughts slammed to a halt.
That flicker of hesitation in his eyes? Gone. Replaced by familiar concern.

“Hold on. I’ll get you there now.”
He didn’t spare Sophia another glance.
He carried Isabelle out, his steps quick and resolute.
Michael shot Sophia a harsh glare, his tone clipped and cold.
“I already told the board you’re unwell and need rest. Leo’s covering your duties for now. Stay in the confinement room and think about what you’ve done.”
Without another glance, he turned and followed Damian toward the door.
Isabelle, draped over Damian’s shoulder, lifted her head and smirked at Sophia-smug, triumphant. Not a trace of pain left.
Sophia’s heart twisted bitterly.
Isabelle’s acting was terrible, yet Damian still couldn’t see . through it.
Of course. She’s his precious first love, after all.

Frank nodded. Message received.
Soon, the sound of a car engine rumbled outside.
Frank’s respectful demeanor vanished, replaced by cold impartiality.
He waved at the row of bodyguards, voice heavy.
“Mr. Hall’s orders. Take Ms. Sophia Anderson to the garden’s confinement room. She’s to reflect on her
actions.”
“You wouldn’t dare! Let go of me!”
Two bodyguards grabbed her arms, twisting them behind her back, dragging her toward the backyard.
No matter how hard Sophia struggled, it was useless.
She turned on Frank, furious.
“Frank! This is the Anderson family home, not the Halls’! Why the hell are you listening to him? Did you forget who signs your paycheck?”
Frank’s expression didn’t shift. His smile was thin and 477
humorless.

“Mr. Hall made it very clear-he’ll take full responsibility for whatever happens to you.”
He stepped forward and confiscated her phone, voice flat.
“We’re keeping your phone. Mr. Hall’s orders-you need
to reflect in silence. No outside contact.”
His words hit like ice water dumped over her head, drowning her last shred of hope.
“Damian!” Sophia bit down hard on her lip, his name torn from her throat. Her fists clenched white-knuckle tight.
After all that, they threw her into the confinement room like a broken doll.
There was only one small window, letting in a sliver of
dim, yellow light.
The musty smell mixed with years of dust and something metallic-blood-made her nauseous.
. Sophia couldn’t hold it. She stumbled to the sink and
vomited violently.

against the wall, but her hand touched something soft
and furry.
She jumped back in shock, looking down to see her hand covered in fresh blood.
