Chapter 46
Suddenly, Frank flashed through his mind, and everything clicked into place.
That idiot. He’d settle accounts with him properly after seeing Sophia.
“She’s at Mercy Grace Hospital?” Damian’s voice was frighteningly hoarse.
He jerked his head up, fixing Connor with a death stare as he demanded urgently, “Which room is she in? Take me to her. Now. Immediately.”
Connor met his desperate gaze, his tone calm yet cutting with mockery: “Yes, she’s at Mercy Grace Hospital. In the VIP suite on the top floor. She’s been there for days.”
He leaned forward slightly, moving closer to Damian’s suddenly pale face, his voice dropping to a devastating whisper:,

“You turned the whole city upside down looking for her. Used every resource at your disposal. Even resorted to the most vicious methods to force her out of hiding.
“But it never occurred to you that she might be hurt too, that she might need medical care, lying there quietly right under your nose.”
Connor straightened up, shaking his head with visible disappointment.
“Damian, as a husband, you are… an absolute failure.”
With that, he turned and walked away.
Damian raced to the VIP suite on the top floor of Mercy Grace Hospital at breakneck speed.
To his surprise, Connor had beaten him there.
Connor blocked his path, speaking quietly, “She’s sleeping. Don’t disturb her.”
. “Get out of my way!” Damian scowled, desperate to see
Sophia.

Connor stood firm, unmoving.
“She’s sleeping. She doesn’t want to see you.”
“You’re not her. What gives you the right to refuse me on her behalf?”
Damian could no longer contain the violence in his heart, throwing a vicious punch toward Connor’s face.
Just as his fist was about to connect-
A tall, slender figure rushed out, arms spread wide to shield Connor.
“Don’t hit him!”
When Damian saw who stood before him, he jerked his fist back.
Watching Sophia throw herself protectively in front of Connor without a second thought, he could barely suppress the jealousy and rage boiling in his chest.
From their expressions, Sophia could guess that something had happened tonight.

Shouldn’t Damian be keeping vigil at Isabelle’s bedside? How had he found his way here?
Hadn’t he hurt her enough already?
She knew Connor had kept her hospitalization secret, afraid someone might come and disturb her recovery.
She’d finally enjoyed some rare peace here, with no contact with any Anderson-and certainly none with her
so-called husband.
She just hadn’t expected Damian to shatter that peace so quickly.
Damian stared at her intently, bitterness spreading through his chest.
“Why didn’t you call me? Do you know what these past days have been like for me”
“There was no need!” Sophia cut him off coldly, her brow furrowed with disgust. “Mr. Hall, you are so busy with important affairs, not to mention caring for your beloved. You don’t have time for someone insignificant like me. Besides, didn’t you punish me with confinement? You’re not here to settle more scores with me, are you?”

The sight of Connor standing beside Sophia made Damian’s skin crawl.
“I saw the documents. We need to talk. Without outsiders present.”
He forced down his murderous rage, speaking with sinister calm as he deliberately emphasized the word “outsiders.”
Seeing his inscrutable expression, Sophia guessed he wanted to discuss the divorce.
Perfect. This wasn’t something she wanted Connor to know about anyway-she didn’t want to drag him into this mess.
She knew Damian was extremely possessive and vindictive. There was no point in involving innocent people.
Sophia tugged at Connor’s sleeve, nodding at him as she said gently:
“Connor, you’ve been working back-to-back shifts
without proper rest. Go get some sleep now. I’ll talk with
him.”
