Chapter 51
Damian’s brow furrowed deeply, his eyes growing colder by the second as he prepared to speak.
“Ring ring ring…” His phone buzzed urgently in his pocket.
He glanced at the caller ID-Liam-then shot a look at the furious Sophia before turning and walking toward the other end of the corridor to take the call.
Outside the hospital room, only Sophia and Isabelle remained.
Sophia didn’t even spare Isabelle another glance, walking straight back into the room as if the other woman were nothing
but air.
She moved to the bedside, picked up her phone, and opened a music app, pretending to listen to songs.
Isabelle followed her in relentlessly, closing the door behind her with a decisive click.
She slowly approached Sophia, her earlier timid facade completely gone, replaced by venomous hatred. Her voice dripped with malicious satisfaction:
“Sophia, how are you still alive?” 1/6

Sophia lifted her eyes, her gaze cutting through Isabelle like a blade, her voice cold as ice:
“Sorry to disappoint you.”
She paused, then asked slowly:
“Isabelle, it was you who ordered Frank to cut off my water and food, trying to let me die, wasn’t it? And Snowball—my mother’s cat-you killed him too, didn’t you?”
Isabelle let out a mocking laugh, as if she’d heard the world’s funniest joke:
“So what if it was me? I didn’t just kill that annoying little cat-I specifically told Frank to take extra good ‘care’ of you.
“What a shame you have nine lives. Dorothy had to go and save you. That meddling Dorothy-she’ll never set foot in my house again.”
She leaned closer, lowering her voice with triumphant glee:
“Oh, and those news stories online, all those comments cursing you out—you saw them all, didn’t you? Enjoying yourself? Didn’t you want peace and quiet? Well, I won’t let you have it!
“I want the whole world to despise you, to curse you! Do you knew how thrilled I was, watching all those strangers online get3

worked up, using the most vicious words to condemn you, to attack you?”
She savored Sophia’s pale complexion, continuing to twist the
knife:
“Zenith Corporation’s CEO, caught abusing her own sister- moral failings causing stock fluctuations.
“Tell me, Sophia, do you think you’ll be able to hold onto that position much longer?”
Sophia’s grip tightened on her phone. She took a deep breath and asked the question she’d already guessed the answer to, but still needed to hear confirmed:
“Everything you’ve done-does Damian know about it?”
Sure enough, at the mention of Damian, Isabelle’s face lit up with even more excitement.
She lifted her chin triumphantly, practically shaking with laughter:
“Of course Damian knows. All those hit pieces about you online? He’s behind every single one. You already figured that out, didn’t you?
He’s been on my side this whole time. Don’t tell me you still 4:13

think he cares about you?”
She enunciated each word carefully, driving them like nails into Sophia’s heart:
“Sophia, listen carefully-in Damian’s heart, the most important person will always be me.”
Even though she’d been mentally prepared, hearing the truth spoken so triumphantly from Isabelle’s lips felt like taking a dull knife to her already numb, frozen heart-ripping open a fresh, bleeding wound.
The pain shot through every fiber of her being.
Her face remained expressionless, but her slender fingers gripping the phone betrayed her, knuckles turning white from the strain. 1
Just as Sophia reeled from the brutal truth, the hospital room door burst open!
A disheveled man in a patient gown charged in, wildly waving a knife. 1
His eyes swept the room frantically as he screamed. “Which one is Sophia! Where’s that witch who beats her sister and steals her man?”

The sudden chaos left Sophia’s mind completely blank.
But before she could react, Isabelle’s eyes flashed with calculated cunning.
She suddenly reached out and shoved the rigid Sophia directly toward the man, pointing at her and shrieking. “It’s her! She’s Sophia!”
The man’s face contorted with rage, his emotions spiraling as he hurled abuse:
