Her Divorce, His Downfall (Sophia and Damian) novel Chapter 8

Chapter 8

Once everything was settled, he stood by the hospital bed, watching Sophia for a long time. He only left when a nurse called for him.

Outside the room, a nurse carefully treated the bruise on Stella’s back.

Seeing that neither of them was seriously hurt, Weston left.

Bella and Stella wanted to stay and look after Sophia, but the onduty doctor persuaded them to leave, reminding them that Stella also needed to rest.

Meanwhile, at the same hospital, Damian reviewed Isabelle’s Xrays. He was relieved to see there were no fractures.

A flicker of triumph crossed Isabelle’s eyes, and her lips curved into a subtle smile.

Damian, thank you for bringing me to the hospital. I’m sorry for all the trouble tonight.

Please don’t be mad at Sophia when you get home. It was my fault. Don’t blame her.

She tugged at his sleeve, putting on an innocent and obedient:34

Warmth flooded his chest. He patted her head.

If only Sophia were half as thoughtful as you. It’s late. I’ll take you home.

Isabelle nodded, letting Damian help her into the car.

Less than half an hour later, Damian dropped her off at the

Anderson Manor.

By the time he got home, it was past three in the morning.

He opened the door and froze, his jaw tightening.

From the entryway to the living room to the master bedroom- everything was pitch black.

The entire villa was eerily silent.

Clearly, Sophia had not come home,

Still throwing a tantrum?

Frustration coiled tight in Damian’s chest and wouldn’t let go.

He tossed his coat on the sofa and grabbed his phone, dialing Sophia over and over.

Every time: The number you have dialed is currently unavailable.

He tried Bella. Also off.

He had clearly spoiled her too much over the years. Now she was even teaching his own sister to ignore his calls, and her temper was getting worse and worse.

He gripped his phone, muttering a curse under his breath.

Sophia, have you forgotten your place as Mrs. Hall? How dare you not come home.

After venting, he stubbornly fired off a text.

[How long are you planning to keep this up? Get home now and I’ll forget you stayed out all night.]

He was certain that as soon as Sophia saw the message, she would rush home.

But he waited and waited, smoking one cigarette after another, and still, there was no sign of her.

Furious, he kicked the coffee table and called his assistant, Liam.

Find Mrs. Hall now. If you can’t locate her in half an hour, pack your things and get out.

Even over the phone, Liam could feel his boss’s towering rage.

He tensed up, quickly rubbing his tired eyes. Right away, Mr. Hall.

Damian rubbed his throbbing temples and wearily closed his

eyes.

Liam was efficient. In less than half an hour, he sent a text with Sophia’s whereabouts.

[Mr. Hall, Mrs. Hall went to the Platinum Palace club with Miss Bella Hall and her friend, Stella. She got drunk, and at some point, she was injured. Mr. Heade took her to Mercy Grace Hospital. She’s still in the emergency room.]

She was hurt? How did he not know that?

Damian’s heart sank. He snatched his coat and sped toward Mercy Grace Hospital.

When he arrived, Liam was standing there, straight as a board, waiting for him.

Mr. Hall, I’ll take you to her.

They strode to the emergency ward and were about to enter 4/6
