Chapter 9
Wilson Group dominated the medical tech field, and this hospital was one of their crown jewels.

Damian and Connor couldn’t stand each other, but that didn’t stop the Halls and Wilsons from doing business together.
Resources were shared. Cooperation meant profit. Simple as
that.
Still, it was surprising that Connor, the family heir, had chosen to become a doctor.
Then again, he had studied clinical medicine.
Back when they were studying abroad, Sophia used to follow Connor around everywhere, always calling out his name affectionately.
Connor would always respond with patience, the affection in his eyes impossible to hide.
People would always tease them at events, but they neither confirmed nor denied anything.
Over time, everyone at the university assumed they were a couple. That is, until Damian shattered that illusion.

passed through.
When he saw her walking alone, he rushed over, grabbed her, and kissed her fiercely.
Eighteen–year–old Sophia was completely terrified. She was too stunned to even resist.h
He didn’t let go until she was gasping for air. He wiped his thumb across the corner of his mouth and smirked.
“So you don’t know how to kiss, huh? Don’t worry. I’ll teach
you.”
It took Sophia a few deep breaths to process what just happened. Then the tears came.
Humiliated and furious, she slapped him hard.
“You bastard! Damian, I hate you!”
Seeing her red–rimmed eyes, Danian finally realized he’d gone too far.
He panicked. “Hey, don’t cry, I’ll take responsibility,
But Sophia didn’t hear a word. She covered her mouth and ran back to the apartment, crying the whole way.
The next day, Connor got some thugs to corner Damian in an 2/5

He grabbed Damian by the collar and threw a punch.
“Damian, if you ever touch Sophia again, I’ll beat you every single time I see you.”

Damian wiped the blood from his lip with his thumb and swung a hard punch back at Connor, snarling through gritted teeth.
“Cut the act. You only act this way because you know Sophia likes you, but you don’t even have the guts to tell her how you feel.”
He took a step closer, his gaze sharp as a knife.
“Do you actually like her, or do you just enjoy the attention you get as a ‘couple‘? You know the truth.”
Damian’s words hit a nerve. A flicker of frustration crossed Connor’s eyes before he lashed back.

“My business with her is none of your concern. Just stay away
from her.”
The two of them fought brutally until they were both battered and bruised.
If Damian hadn’t known how to box, Connor and those thugs probably would have crippled him. 3/5

They both silently agreed not to mention the fight to Sophia.
That was why, when Damian later saw Sophia tending to Connor’s wounds, he gritted his teeth in fury.
In the blink of an eye, they had both graduated and were now excelling in their respective fields.
They were more mature now than the hot–headed young men they used to be.
But under the harsh hospital lights, face to face again, they realized some obsessions never fade.
“I’m here to see my wife. What gives you the right to stop me?”
Damian’s tone was icy, his expression darker than grim.
“The patient is awake, and she said she doesn’t want to see you.” Connor adjusted his glasses, his demeanor strictly professional.
Damian clenched his fists so tightly his nails dug into his palms, but he didn’t feel the pain.
