Chapter 81
Desire and reason warred in Weston’s mind, neither willing to give in.
In the end, reason won.
A thin layer of sweat covered Stella’s forehead, her clothes nearly soaked through.
“Wait here,” he said, his voice rough, almost hoarse.
After that, he forced himself to get up and step away from the
bed.
He went into the bathroom and grabbed a cold towel.
When he came back, he wrung it out and gently pressed it against her back.
“No…”
The sudden chill made Stella flinch, instinctively trying to pull
away.
“I’m just trying to help,” Weston said quietly, pausing for a moment. “It’ll make you feel better.”
When he saw the tension in her eyes slowly ease, he moved more

carefully, wiping her down bit by bit.
Once he was done, he sat on the edge of the bed.
Then he pulled her gently into his arms, one hand resting against her back, soothing her with slow, steady strokes.
Knock. Knock. Knock.

The sound at the door made Weston immediately set her down.
He strode over, glanced through the peephole, and saw Ryan standing outside with a female doctor carrying a medical kit.
Weston opened the door quickly.
Ryan started to step inside, but Weston lifted a hand to stop
him.
Ryan froze for a second, then met Weston’s eyes.
The memory of what had happened earlier flashed through his mind.
He understood instantly.
Given the situation, it wasn’t something he should see.
Ryan stepped back without another word, lowering his voice4:22

“I’ll wait outside, Mr. Heade.”
Weston gave a short nod, then stepped aside to let the doctor in before closing the door behind her.
The doctor walked straight to the bed and began examining
Stella.
After a few moments, she turned to Weston, her tone calm and professional.
“The drug she was given usually causes severe mood swings, agitation, a rapid heartbeat, dizziness, shortness of breath, a high fever, and flushed skin. In more serious cases, it can even cause loss of consciousness.
“Her temperature has already come down, so the worst of it has likely passed. I’ll give her something to make her throw up and help clear the rest of the drug from her system.
“After that, have her drink plenty of warm water to help with recovery. Keep a close eye on her tonight. If nothing unusual happens, she should be fine after a few days of rest. But if anything seems off, take her to the hospital right away.”
Weston listened carefully, his eyes never leaving Stella’s face.
“Got it,” he said firmly.

The doctor worked quickly, preparing the injection and administering it with practiced ease.
Afterward, she gave a few more detailed instructions before packing up her medical kit.
As she reached the door, she paused.
Then she turned back, her gaze flicking over Weston’s slightly disheveled clothes before sharpening just a little.
She cleared her throat.
“Well,” she said pointedly, “you should show some restraint. Stuff like this has side effects-it’s not good for her. Don’t let your girlfriend take anything like that again.”
Weston froze.
Heat rushed to the tips of his ears.
But there was no way to explain it without making things worse.
His throat tightened. In the end, he just gave a stiff nod and said, “…Thanks for the advice, doctor.”
He walked her out, then closed the door behind him.

Bang-
A sudden noise came from inside the room.
Weston’s heart skipped a beat. He immediately turned and rushed back in.
The medication worked fast.
Even in her haze, Stella was jolted awake by a violent wave of
nausea.
She had just knocked over a glass of water.
Before she could even fully open her eyes, Weston rushed over, lifted her, and carried her straight into the bathroom, guiding her down beside the toilet.
She was already throwing up, clinging there weakly as her body trembled with each wave of nausea. Cold sweat dampened her forehead.
Weston stayed right by her side the entire time.
There wasn’t a trace of disgust on his face.
He bent slightly, one hand gently rubbing her back, the other brushing her hair away so it wouldn’t fall into her face.

His brows were tightly drawn.
Watching her like this made his expression tense.
A lingering worry weighed heavily in his chest.
Once she finally slowed down, he handed her a cup of water and helped her over to the sink.
