Her Divorce, His Downfall (Sophia and Damian) novel Chapter 80

Chapter 80

They were standing way too close.

Close enough for Stella to hear his heartbeat.

Close enough that his presence completely surrounded her.

Even through his clothes, the heat of his body pressed against hers, making her pulse spike-the restless warmth inside her flaring up again.

“Go on,” Weston said.

He caught every tiny shift in her expression, but he didn’t let up.

“Why do you hate me so much?”

“Because you mess around with women-you flirt with anything that moves-you… you’re such a jerk!”

The words came out before she could stop them, but there was hesitation underneath.

Honestly, she didn’t even know Weston that well.

She just couldn’t stand seeing him around Damian-and every time she did, that irritation flared up before she could control it. 1/9

Weston’s gaze dropped, dark and unreadable.

Under that endless stare, Stella was the first to break.

She looked away, unable to meet his eyes anymore.

Weston watched her for a long moment.

Then, suddenly, he let out a quiet laugh.

“Mess around with women? Flirt with anything that moves?” he repeated slowly.

His voice stayed calm, but his eyes stayed locked on her.

“Stella, have you ever actually seen me do any of that? Or did someone just tell you that’s the kind of guy I am?”

He leaned in closer, until their noses were almost touching, and asked softly,

“Or is it just because I hang out with Damian, so you lump me in with him?”

His voice dropped even lower.

“You think I’m that kind of guy?”

The question hit Stella hard, tightening her chest and stealing the strength from her voice.

“I don’t know.”

She wanted to snap back, to hide behind her anger again.

But the words wouldn’t come out.

She hated what Damian had done to Sophia.

And without thinking, she’d lumped everyone around him into

the same category.

But now that Weston was questioning her, she realized she didn’t have real answers-just anger she’d been taking out on

him.

But how could she admit that now?

She’d already seen what he was capable of back in the private

room.

Getting on his bad side wouldn’t end well.

Even Egbert had been blacklisted by him-what chance did a nobody actress like her have?

She still needed this job.

She had to buy her mom a house, take care of her in the future.

She couldn’t afford to lose it.

“I…”

Stella parted her lips again, but her voice came out softer this

time.

“I was just… really upset. Angry about Sophia’s death.”

“I’m sorry about Sophia too,” Weston cut in, his tone steady. “But from what I know, it was an accident. You can’t pin that on me without proof.”

With Weston pressing her like this, Stella finally gave in.

“I’m sorry,” she whispered. “I didn’t mean any of it.”

Her hands clenched so tightly her nails dug into her palms.

Tears filled her eyes as she forced herself to go on.

“I shouldn’t have said those things when I didn’t even know the truth. I’m sorry for what I said.”

After that, she lowered her head, not daring to look at him. 14:22

Her face burned, her whole body felt overheated.

And the heat under her skin was getting harder and harder to ignore.

Weston looked down at her.

Her hair was a mess, the corners of her eyes red, tears streaking down her face. Her cheeks were flushed an unnatural shade.

He let out a quiet breath.

Her outburst had thrown him off so much he’d almost forgotten -she wasn’t okay.

The mood swings… it was probably the drug.

The pressure he’d been deliberately putting on her eased.

“Don’t talk to me like that again,” he said, his tone softer now.

Stella nodded quickly, but her tears didn’t stop.

She’d learned her lesson.

There was no way she’d risk offending someone like him again.

“You look terrible when you cry,” Weston muttered.

But even as he said it, his hand lifted, gently brushing the tears from the corners of her eyes.

“Feel wronged?”

“No…” Stella’s voice broke, and her tears came even harder.

She wrapped her arms tightly around his waist, her voice soft and trembling.

“I feel awful… I’m so hot…”

Her body burned with heat. She shifted restlessly against him, unable to keep still.

Every so often, a soft, embarrassed sound slipped from her lips.

She clung to him tighter.

And then, all at once, a reckless thought took over—

She wanted to be closer. Much closer. As close as possible,

“Stella!”

Weston’s voice sharpened as he called her name.

He reached up to touch her forehead-only to pull his hand back
