Her Divorce, His Downfall (Sophia and Damian) novel Chapter 97

Chapter 97

He paused for a moment, then spoke slowly, deliberately.

“I have leverage against Isabelle. I’ve got all the evidence showing she manipulated Blake into kidnapping you, setting the fire, and ultimately causing your ‘death.””

“Blake… I saved him too. He’s in the hospital right now, and he’s a witness. He told me himself that Isabelle kept reminding him you were Damian’s wife while you were in the factory-telling him to go after you directly.”

“That night, Isabelle being ‘kidnapped’ by Blake? It was all a show. They were working together. Blake wanted revenge on Damian, and Isabelle promised him a reward. It was a setup.”

“Later at the scene, Blake lost control after Damian provoked him and started the fire. But Isabelle never intended for either of you to survive. She genuinely wanted both of you dead.”

“Think about it. If we hand all this over to Michael, he won’t hesitate for a second to save Isabelle at any cost. Forget the forty percent of Zenith Corporation-he’d probably give up his own shares to protect her.”

“And if he doesn’t want to help… even better. I’ll have Jeffrey, on behalf of the victims’ families, submit the evidence to the police.

At that point, Isabelle’s looking at a long stretch in prison.” 14:38

Sophia felt sweat break out across her back as she listened.

She had thought Isabelle was simply jealous-jealous that she had married well, that she excelled at everything, that she had everything.

She hadn’t realized Isabelle was so vicious, so determined that she’d tried multiple times to end her life.

Sophia couldn’t even imagine how Michael would react if he knew the Isabelle he had spoiled since childhood was capable of something like this.

Her gaze fell, a shadow crossing her face as she thought of her grandfather, Simon Moore.

“Back when Mom was alive, she always took me to visit Grandpa in Washington every holiday. But after she passed… Dad barely visited, and I hardly went once I got married. I’m… I’m afraid they’d be mad at me.”

Julian shook his head gently, his gaze softening.

“They won’t. I’ve been sending gifts in your name every year. Simon adored Elaine, and you’re her only daughter. He’s always cared about you. No matter what, you’re his granddaughter. As for Elaine’s inheritance… Jeffrey won’t let anyone touch it.”

Sophia froze, chest tightening as warmth and gratitude surged through her, leaving her momentarily speechless.

Julian lifted her chin, his eyes blazing.

“So… Sophia? Will you be my fiancée?”

Her heart skipped a beat.

Will I? Should I?

Could I really get back at Damian and Isabelle?

Her brows furrowed as her thoughts raced. She hesitated.

Julian had explained everything clearly, laying out all the stakes. So what was there left to worry about?

He had thought through every detail, considering her needs at

every step.

He kept emphasizing that as long as she finished what she needed to do, she could end the relationship at any time.

He was completely focused on her perspective, helping her without asking for anything in return. So why was she still hesitating?

Sophia’s chest felt like it was being squeezed by an invisible 14:38

hand, her breathing quickening.

Her fingers pressed against his warm palm without thinking, and a thought popped into her head-only to be immediately shattered by another.

In that moment, she felt like a pendulum, swinging back and forth, unable to decide.

Julian watched her closely, his gaze dropping to her furrowed brow. Her delicate face was scrunched in uncertainty, and he

could see she was torn.

But he stayed silent, patient, never rushing her, giving her all the time she needed.

After what felt like an eternity, Sophia finally found the courage to speak.

Her lips curved slightly as she opened her mouth, only to look up and meet Julian’s eyes-glossy with unshed tears, staring straight at her.

It looked as though a single refusal would shatter him, and the pitiful vulnerability in his gaze tugged at her heart.

In that instant, she couldn’t bring herself to say no.

Her heart softened, and blinking rapidly, she whispered, 14:38
