Her fifth daughter died, so she deleted his bloodline. novel Chapter 60

Chapter 7

Three days after quitting. Slurping instant noodles in my rental when an unknown

number called.

“Ms. Mitchell? This is Ethan Peterson.”

Ethan Peterson. Head of Peterson Group. The final decision-maker on that project.

I blinked. “Mr. Peterson? Can I help you?”

“Heard you quit.” Straight to the point. “I saw the proposal the Mitchell girl sent over.

It’s a disaster. Honestly? Felt like a personal insult.”

I laughed despite myself. Rose couldn’t write a proposal to save her life. Probably paid

someone to cobble it together.

“So?”

“So, Ms. Mitchell, I want to hire you. Not as an agency vendor. As Peterson Group’s strategic advisor. You’ll oversee the project personally. Triple your current salary, plus performance bonus. In this city, Jason Mitchell can blacklist anyone.”

“Except my people.”

My heart skipped. “Why me?”

Silence. Then, unexpected, “Because I saw you at the hospital. Signing your own consent form. That look in your eyes? Reminded me of myself. Tough.”

Ethan clawed his way up from a pile of illegitimate kids. When he hit rock bottom,

someone even got him hospitalized. He survived alone, biting through the pain.

I gripped the phone.

“Okay.”

“I’m in.”

I hung up, stared at the gray sky outside.
