Chapter 17
Holly went ghostly pale, panic visible on her face.

She quickly looked back at Sylvia. Then, gritting her teeth, she complained, “Lady Vivian, you act so arrogant and bossy, treating the servants like they’re beneath you. Maybe one of the maids couldn’t take it anymore and switched the balm.”
“You secretly used my Violet Balm and then had the nerve to accuse me of being harsh?” Vivian stepped forward, towering over Holly.
She could still recall being grounded in the family chapel when Holly’s son tried to break in and assault her. She had yelled at him to back off, swinging a pair of scissors to protect herself.
Later, when they began to cut her, it was Holly and her son who pinned her down, ensuring she couldn’t move to mess up the floor with blood.
That guy was so strong that he would snap her fingers one by one. Those two were monsters, helping the real villains get away. He and his mother deserved whatever punishment was coming their way.
“Mom, I don’t understand what I did to upset Holly so much,” Vivian said, her eyes filling with tears as she dabbed at them with a handkerchief, looking completely wronged.
She was determined not to miss this opportunity. If she couldn’t make Sylvia suffer today, once Celia started flaunting her connection with Xavier, getting revenge would be nearly impossible.
But with Quentin defending Sylvia, it wouldn’t be easy to take her down.
Just as Vivian was thinking about her next move, Beatrice spoke up. “Sylvia, I want to know why you let your servants misbehave and offend Vivian.”
Sylvia trembled under Beatrice’s sharp gaze. She knew she had raised Beatrice’s suspicions. “This old fox is too clever and can sense trouble from afar. Without a solid excuse, every word I say will only make things worse, she thought.
The courtyard fell silent. No one knew how long it lasted before the soft rustle of fabric broke the stillness.
Celia stepped forward gracefully, took Vivian’s hand, and said, “Don’t cry. Maybe one of the servants just made a mistake.
“How about this? I’ll send someone to Juashiton to get you a new batch of Violet Balm. Just use it on your face, and you’ll look even prettier.” As she spoke, she offered with a warm smile.
Celia was Flora’s legitimate daughter, held in high regard by everyone, including the noble ladies from the royal family. She hoped that if she spoke up, Vivian would back off.
But Vivian, stubborn as ever, pulled her hand away. “I know you’re kind-hearted, Celia, and hate anything messy or ugly. But a small mistake can lead to a big disaster. If we don’t deal with these disloyal servants now, they’ll become even bolder.
“Today, they steal ointment, and tomorrow, they’ll target the pearls His Majesty gave us.”

Vivian was aware that the pearls from the palace were already a sore spot for Celia. Bringing it up only made Celia more uncomfortable.
Unsurprisingly, Celia’s smile froze on her face. She looked annoyed, but she kept her composure and refused to argue with Vivian in front of everyone.
Matthew couldn’t stand seeing his sister Celia being bullied, so he stepped in. “Vivian, do you really have to cause a scene and ruin everyone’s day?”
His usually handsome face twisted into something almost monstrous, like a creature from the darkest depths.
It was hard for Vivian to believe he was her real brother. She was sure that even if her true identity were exposed, Matthew would always defend Celia.
To him, Celia could do no wrong, and she was always the villain. Having a brother like him was enough to drive anyone mad.
“Host, your brother Matthew really seems to have been brainwashed,” the System remarked.
“Brainwashed? Did Celia pull some mind-control stunt on him?” Vivian asked.
“No, nothing like that. Matthew has been spoiling Celia since they were kids. It’s become second nature for him, so changing that is almost impossible,” the System explained.
Not wanting Vivian to get upset, it quickly added, “You’ve already gained nine Fortune Points. Just one more, and you’ll earn another Golden Plume. After that, Matthew won’t be so enchanted by her.”
Vivian always thought Matthew was acting foolishly, but she never bothered to find out why. She to the point. “Matthew, even though we have different mothers, I’m still Father’s daughter.

“Now even the servants think they can walk all over me. They steal from me, then call me arrogant and say I deserve it. If this gets out, people will think the Snyder family has no rules.”
“Rules? Who do you think you are, lecturing me about rules?” Matthew snapped, his frustration boiling over.
“That’s enough!” Beatrice finally had enough and cut in. She glanced at Sylvia and asked, “So, what are you going to do about Holly, this insolent servant?”
Over the years, Sylvia had always been so quiet and compliant. Even if she made a mistake this time, Beatrice wasn’t ready to dismiss her, believing everyone deserved a chance. Besides, she couldn’t imagine a mother not loving her child.
Vivian was Sylvia’s own daughter. Despite their strained relationship, they were still bound by blood. Beatrice thought maybe there were misunderstandings between them that led to this situation.
“Holly is my distant cousin’s wife, and she has been with me for many years. She may not have done anything huge, but she’s been working hard. Please, don’t punish her too harshly just because she made a mistake,” Sylvia said, begging for Holly,
“I’m not saying you should beat or scold her. I just want you to deal with the situation with Holly. Is it that you can’t, or that you simply won’t?” Beatrice asked icily.

Just like a mother knew her child, the opposite was true as well. Quentin understood his mother well. He knew Beatrice valued order and wouldn’t tolerate any chaos in Aurea Manor.
If Sylvia didn’t have the heart to deal with Holly, the disrespectful servant, she wouldn’t last long in Aurea
Manor.
Quentin had gone through a lot to bring Sylvia, his concubine, into the manor and give her a proper position. It had worn him out.
“Holly and Sylvia aren’t just master and servant. They’re distant relatives, and there’s history between them. Holly is getting older, and if we punish her, the Snyder family will look heartless. We might as well just let her go,” Quentin said, deciding Holly’s fate.
Sylvia’s tears flowed even more as she looked at Quentin, her eyes brimming with emotion. She pleaded softly, “Your Grace, you know about my brother. His family has always been poor, and he damaged his health from hard work when he was young.
“If Holly hadn’t been here, helping with a little income, our family would barely survive. We would have no way to make ends meet.”
Quentin turned away, refusing to engage. He might spoil Sylvia, but he wasn’t easily manipulated.
Holly’s family had been taking advantage of Aurea Manor for years to get various perks. Even if they were dismissed, they wouldn’t be starving.
Quentin thought Sylvia was far too soft-hearted, and it was likely those scheming servants had turned Sylvia and Vivian against each other.
