‘But Vivian aired her mom’s dirty laundry publicly. That’s truly bratty and inappropriate!
“Parents are always right, Vivian. Don’t bring this up again,” Quentin ordered firmly.
He helped Sylvia up and gently patted her back. “I understand. You’re strict with Vivian because you love her and want the best.”
“My lord…” Sylvia clutched Quentin’s sleeve, her voice trembling.
“Kids don’t always see the care behind actions. Maybe it’s best to let her go. When she runs into trouble, she’ll learn,” Quentin said softly.
Sylvia nodded through her tears.
Quentin turned to Flora. “Want to take Vivian in as your girl? I’ll drop the priest a line.” That was his way of agreeing.
Sylvia felt rage boiling in her chest, so intense she could almost taste blood.
But she didn’t dare look at Vivian, afraid her hatred might show.
Before, Celia was Quentin’s only legitimate daughter. She was born to the lady of the house, backed by scholars, and incredibly gifted. Plus, her stunning looks had made her a local celebrity, setting her apart from everyone else.
Now Vivian would also be listed under Flora’s name, which meant Celia was no longer the only special one.
What really terrified Sylvia was that, with Vivian’s rising status, her Fortune might improve as well.
She thought, ‘Celia had lived a charmed life where everything went her way. But lately, trouble kept finding
her.
‘Meanwhile, Vivian rescued Princess Gloria and received royal praise. If she hadn’t stolen Celia’s Fortune, how could she be so lucky?
‘Celia’s Fortune and Vivian’s are inversely linked; only one could truly benefit. That person had to be Celia.’
The fiasco wrapped up quickly. Even if some realized it was a setup targeting Vivian, nobody dared speak up. The schemers and fighters were from Quentin’s family. Outsiders meddling in it would only land them in trouble.
Dorothy grabbed Nina’s wrist and dragged her away, preventing her from meddling further.
Beatrice patted Vivian on the shoulder and said, “You’ve been through a lot.”
Vivian remained silent.
Sylvia’s heart clenched. ‘Is Beatrice starting to suspect me?’
She wanted to explain but feared causing trouble for Celia. Swallowing her anxiety, she murmured, “My lord.”

After nearly twenty years together, Quentin could read Sylvia casily. He steadied her and quietly led her out of the courtyard.
Watching Sylvia stagger away, Vivian felt no real victory.
She knew with Quentin backing them, taking down that mother-daughter duo wouldn’t be easy.
But she believed persistence would pay off. One day, she’d get her justice.
Besides, she’d used Crystal Hex Lantern to give Celia a taste of her own medicine. Today was somewhat worthwhile.
“Vivian, we finally got that Fortune Point,” the System cheered, its mechanical voice unexpectedly excited.
Vivian’s lips curled into a smile, her eyes bright with anticipation. “You said once I hit ten Fortune Points, I can get back one of my Golden Plumes. Is that true?”
“I’d never lie to you. If you don’t believe me, I can let you take a peek at the Phoenix,” the System replied.
“No rush. I’ll check it out tonight,” Vivian said.

That night, Vivian spotted Celia. The cuckoo above her head had lost one of its eight tail feathers. Its aura was weaker, looking wounded and whimpering.
And the phoenix above Vivian’s head had recovered two Golden Plumes, no longer looking lifeless.
“Vivian, you’ve got thirty Fortune Points now, Celia’s at eighty,” the System reported.
“A fifty-point gap? Celia really is overflowing with Fortune,” Vivian snorted sarcastically.
The System quickly added, “She only has that Fortune because she stole it from you. But stolen Fortune is still Fortune, so be careful.”
“Don’t worry. I won’t stop until I take back everything she stole, piece by piece,” Vivian said, her voice resolute.
She sipped coffee and whispered to Judith.
From her previous-life memories, she knew Aurea Manor was about to get messy.
Flora’s old blood deficiency was acting up again, and Vivian knew she had to be prepared.
Sure enough, the next morning, word spread like wildfire through Aurea Manor that Lady Flora had fallen ill.
