EX 20 youchers
Celia sat at the bed’s edge and held Sylvia’s hand, her brows furrowed slightly. “Mother’s illness came on so suddenly. As her daughter, I should be there to look after her.
“But you
need care too, Mom. You look so pale. I made you soup; it’ll help you regain strength.”
Sylvia’s heart melted. “Don’t focus on me, Celia. I’m just your father’s concubine. Compared to Lady Flora, I’m nothing. You’re the legitimate daughter with noble standing. Spending too much time with me could hurt your reputation,” she said earnestly.
No one wanted Celia’s success more than Sylvia. They were bound by blood, an unbreakable tie.
“My reputation doesn’t matter. You’re more important,” Celia said firmly.
Sylvia’s eyes grew wet. She kept persuading, “I know you care, but this is a crucial moment. We can’t let our guard down.”
She let out a sigh. If Vivian hadn’t recently stirred up trouble, turning Beatrice and Flora against Celia, she wouldn’t be so anxious.
Sylvia opened Celia’s palm, stared at the vivid red mole, and finally felt relieved.
That red mole was proof of Celia’s identity. As long as it was there, Flora wouldn’t question her.
Even with some tension, a little sweet talk could melt a mother’s heart and earn forgiveness.
Celia hesitated. “Mom, I think our previous plan really worked.”
When Celia was ten, Flora fell gravely ill. Her body was so weak from blood loss she nearly died.
The doctor said only a close family member’s blood could cure her.
Celia’s devotion ran deep. Without hesitation, she gave her own blood that night and sent it to Hearthstone
Court.
When Flora woke and learned what happened, she rolled up Celia’s sleeve with her hands shaking.
Seeing the jagged, twisted scar, Flora broke down. She hugged Celia tight, sobbing uncontrollably.
She was heartbroken and moved, never imagining Celia would suffer so much for her.
Little did Flora know. The entire ordeal was a carefully planned act by Celia and Sylvia.
Their goal was to make Flora feel so guilty toward Celia that she’d become completely compliant, and that was exactly what happened.
Six years ago, Celia had reaped the rewards of this ploy. Now, with things getting tough at Aurea Manor, she considered using the same tactic to regain Flora’s favor.

Sylvia took a sip of coffee, moistening her parched lips. She knew a self-sacrifice act could work, but executing it wasn’t easy.
Back then, Vivian was only ten and completely trusted Sylvia. Sylvia could just drug her food to keep her in a groggy stupor for a whole month.
And since Flora was sick, nobody cared about a concubine’s daughter.
But everything had changed. Vivian had been officially taken in by Flora. She wasn’t just a side daughter anymore; she was practically a legitimate heiress.
The real problem was, Vivian no longer trusted Sylvia, and she had lost control.
The realization hit Sylvia hard. Vivian had always been her secret weapon, getting her out of countless
messes.
Now, that pawn was breaking free. No way Sylvia would be okay with that.
“You want to use a sympathy ploy, I won’t stop you. Sometimes you have to sacrifice to get what you want. But…” Sylvia paused.
She lowered her voice. “Vivian’s not going to be easy to handle.”
They could use Matthew or Simon’s blood too, but those two were legitimate sons. Hurting them would cause an uproar.
Vivian was different. With the right plan, they might still pull it off while keeping things quiet.
“Let’s drug her like before,” Sylvia suggested.
Celia shook her head, thinking the plan was too risky and might be exposed.
“What if we lure her out of the manor and kidnap her? We can take her blood for the cure, and no one would suspect a thing,” Celia said.
Sylvia frowned, “You want to take her life?”
“I’m not that heartless,” Celia laughed softly. “She’s my sister, anyway. I just need her blood to save Mom, who’s dying. I’m not trying to kill her.
“But taking her blood inside the manor is too risky. Outside, we can blame it on bandits, and no one would suspect me.”
“You can lure Vivian out of Aurea Manor?” Sylvia asked.
Celía blinked, her smile turning sweeter. “Remember her silk shop? If it gets tangled with the authorities, she’ll have to show up. She can’t dodge it.”

By evening, a maid rushed to Vivian. “Lady Vivian, there’s trouble at the silk shop!”

“What happened?” Vivian stood up, thinking, ‘What could go wrong at a tailor shop?’

“A woman’s causing a scene outside. She says one of our embroiderers left a needle in a collar that pricked her baby. She just won’t stop crying,” the maid said anxiously.
Vivian lowered her gaze, tucking a hair behind her ear. ‘Here we go, she thought.
Since learning about Flora’s recurring illness, she’d known Celia wouldn’t sit idle.
With Celia’s Fortune running out, losing Flora’s love through dirty tricks would cost her the Aurea Manor heiress spot.
She would definitely try her self-sacrifice trick again. Since she wasn’t Flora’s real daughter, her blood wouldn’t work. She’d target Vivian instead.
Vivian knew this silk shop scene was just bait to lure her out.
“Did the shopkeeper cover the doctor’s fee for that mother and her kid?” she asked.
“That’s the weird part. She won’t take money. She keeps demanding to see you. Sounds like she’s trying to squeeze us,” the maid guessed.
Vivian smiled slightly, “She probably wants fairness.”
After the maid left, Vivian gave Judith a meaningful look. Judith quietly followed her to the bedroom.
Moments later, a lady emerged, her face hidden under a veiled hat, wearing an elegant brocade gown.
The maid gushed, “Lady Beatrice’s fabric is stunning, and it matches that pearl bracelet perfectly.”
The bracelet on the lady’s wrist was made of pearls bestowed by the king, which were so rare that no other Aurea Manor lady could even imagine owning them. This was Vivian’s exclusive privilege.
Even with her face hidden, that distinctive pearl bracelet clearly identified her.
As the veiled lady entered the carriage, an unremarkable servant hurried to Sylvia’s door and whispered a few
words.
Sylvia’s eyes lit up. “It worked!”
