Nina was both foolish and naive, not even noticing Celia’s warning looks.

“Just a few days ago, she was causing trouble at the Imperial Menagerie and almost got Prince Nicholas and Edward mauled by a black bear. It’s only natural for our family to be upset about it.”

The lady nodded along with Nina.

Celia wanted to shut Nina up before she could embarrass the Snyder family more.

Fortunately, Celia still had enough sense to keep her smile gentle. It was a sharp contrast to Nina’s sarcastic manner.

“How should I address you, Lady?” Nina, not entirely clueless, took the initiative to ask.

The lady smiled warmly and said, “I’m Paulina, and my husband is Conrad Fletcher.”

Nina’s expression froze, stunned by what she’d just heard.

Conrad was Enoch’s uncle.

That meant the woman standing in front of her was the mother of Edward.

No matter how many mistakes Vivian had made, she still saved Edward from the black bear. And now Nina was belittling Vivian in front of the boy’s mother. That was stupid.

Nina’s face flushed, and she wished she could disappear.

Celia felt just as embarrassed, but she also felt resentful toward Paulina.

She thought, ‘Paulina must have overheard us complaining about Vivian and deliberately embarrassed us in front of all these noble ladies. How vicious.‘

Feeling the crowd gossiping and pointing fingers, Celia was dying of embarrassment.

As worshippers passed by the Silvermoon Twinbloom, they’d cup some water in their hands and pray for blessings.

This was the perfect chance to make a move.

Her eyes fixed on a tall figure. After thinking it over for a second, she stepped forward.

Seeing this, Nina called out, “This is the Sanctuary of Peace. Where do you think you are going?”

Celia gently reminded her, “Vivian has her own plans, Nina. Just focus on yourself.”

Vivian approached Enoch.

She was tall for a woman, but even so, standing before Enoch, she had to look up at him. His royal aura was truly intimidating.

Vivian bowed respectfully. “Your Highness.”

Enoch frowned. His sharp, handsome features were unreadable. “Miss Snyder, what brings you here?”

Vivian bowed again, her voice earnest. “I realize I offended you the other day. When I saw you just now, I wanted to take the chance to apologize in person.”

Her real enemies were Celia and Prince Xavier, not Enoch. There was no way she could afford to make an enemy out of the crown prince.

“Miss Snyder, you’re always pulling the strings behind the scenes, but now you actually swallowed your pride,” Enoch said, hands clasped behind his back.

From this angle, he could see the butterfly hairpin in Vivian’s hair. Its delicate wings fluttered gently every time she moved.

“Your Highness…” Vivian was momentarily at a loss for words. She hadn’t expected Enoch to still be holding a grudge over what had happened.

“Enough. Would I really bother to argue with you? Apology accepted. You may leave.” Enoch’s voice was icy, but Vivian caught a trace of concern.

“Please, Your Highness, don’t be in such a hurry. I actually brought you a token of apology,” Vivian said.

The System froze for a moment and then screamed, “Host, are you really going to give the growth potion to the crown prince?”

Vivian didn’t deny it.

Compared to her, Enoch, who had been raised among wolves since childhood, was always shrouded in the stigma of being an “ill–fated one.”

Even his own father, the king, had grown cold toward him because of it, favoring Prince Xavier all the more.

Vivian hadn’t had many dealings with Enoch, but she knew he was kind, far more so than the power–hungry Prince Xavier. He was the one who truly needed the title of the blessed one.

“I don’t need anything.” Enoch said, his tone flat.

Vivian smiled and asked, “Aren’t you curious?”

“Curious about what?” Enoch replied.

“About the little gift I brought you,” Vivian teased.

Enoch narrowed his eyes. “Hand it over.”

“Please hold out your hand,” Vivian said and took out the white bottle. Using her wide sleeves to hide her movements, she poured the growth potion straight onto Enoch’s palm.

“What are you playing at?” Enoch glared at her, but he didn’t move his hand.

“If you trust me, when you scoop water at the blessing altar and pray, your prayers will be answered,” Vivian said.

“You’d better not be up to anything.” Enoch warned, his voice low. “You know I’m not like others. I was raised by beasts.

“I don’t care about all those stuffy rules. If you cross me, not even the Snyder family can save you.”

Enoch kept his voice barely above a whisper, his fist closing tight to hide any sign of what just happened.

Vivian smiled. Once the empty bottle was safely stashed away, she dipped into a smooth, respectful bow.

Just as Vivian was about to leave, Enoch asked, “Is your hand better now?”

Vivian paused. It took her a second to figure out what he meant.

He was talking about the wound she’d gotten from hauling the bear cub in that basket, when the rope had chafed her hand pretty badly.

She’d put ointment on it as soon as she got back to Maple Yard, and now all that was left was a big scar.

“It’s all healed up now. Thanks for asking,” Vivian replied.

Vivian and Enoch hadn’t been talking for long, but it was enough to turn heads..

Everyone at court knew the crown prince never went near women. He didn’t even keep a single concubine at Crestdawn Manor. But today, he was having a pleasant conversation with a girl.

“Who’s the girl around the crown prince? She doesn’t look familiar,” a woman with grey hair whispered.

It was the Queen Mother, who was standing on the pavilion and dressed in crimson robes. She radiated vitality and commanded respect.

Daphne raised her brows. There was a touch of surprise in her voice as she answered respectfully, “That’s Vivian, the second daughter of the Duke of Aurea.”

“Vivian? Isn’t she the one who saved a kid from a bear? She’s brave. Your sister taught her well,” the Queen Mother remarked.

The Queen Mother valued the royal lineage, and she was clearly pleased with Vivian’s loyalty and courage.

“Vivian is very smart. She was the one who found out I was expecting,” Daphne said, smiling as she gently stroked her belly.

“Is that so?” The Queen Mother couldn’t help but give Vivian a second look, a hint of regret stirring in her heart.

She wasn’t all that far from the blessing altar, and her eyesight was still sharp enough to catch Vivian’s delicate features. Too bad the scar really spoiled Vivian’s face.

Plus, Vivian was just a daughter born of a concubine. If she’d been legitimate, with all the credit she’d earned, the Queen Mother might make her a side consort for the crown prince.
