Her Revenge Was His Regret (Shirley and Gilbert) novel Chapter 442

Who is really the other woman?

In Melissa's eyes, Julia never stopped meddling. She'd tried to snatch Gilbert from Sherry once, and now she pursued Lucas the moment Sherry got together with him in King City.

Melissa had seen that photo as well, but she hadn't recognized the man in the background.

Still, just from that one angle, she could tell he was someone extraordinary—the kind of person who stood out without even trying. How did Sherry always manage to attract such men?

Yet for all her apparent good fortune, it was clear she was simply being targeted. Whenever Sherry grew fond of someone, Julia would swoop in without fail—and then she even had the audacity to make all kinds of claims.

That Sherry was stealing her man?

Seriously—who was stealing from whom here?

Wasn't Julia the one constantly poaching Sherry's relationships?

"What's that look for? Are you trying to say I'm the one chasing after Sherry's guys?" Julia snapped, just hearing the topic set her off. "She's always been the one taking what's mine!

"I met Gilbert first. And I had my eye on Lucas way back when I was studying abroad—someone like you wouldn't get it.

"I was the one the Harrison family originally wanted."

If it weren't for that other man getting in the way, she would've gone all out to win Lucas over a long time ago.

Sure, Lucas might've been better looking.

But that other man's presence—his sheer intensity—was something no one else could match.

Julia held the photo and gently brushed her finger over the man's face. "But none of you know the truth.

"I didn't end up with Lucas. I let Sherry get close to him—only because this man was the one I was really meant to be with! I was holding back. Otherwise, Sherry wouldn't have stood a chance near Lucas.

"I just chose not to interfere."

"What he doesn't realize is how many times he's quietly helped me out of tight spots. If there weren't... complications between us, we would've been together ages ago."

She'd heard the rumors—this man was every bit as cold as he appeared, someone who didn't bat an eye at other people's struggles and never went out of his way to help anyone.

And yet he'd helped her. More than once.

They said Caleb had asked him to step in.

But she'd made a point to dig around.

That man didn't do favors easily, and by all accounts, the two of them weren't even close—not really friends. If they were friends, why had they never been seen together? Why had he never once visited?

She'd asked around several times, always getting the same answer.

She hadn't pushed Caleb to cross any lines, so there was no way he could've called in those favors. So how did all those things get resolved?
