Her phone screen lit up, and a message notification from Jackie dropped down from the screen.
Jackie: Where are you?
Isla sighed and typed in a few words in response to his question. “Work. I am working extra hours because my boss is still working.”
Soon, Jackie sent another text.
Jackie: Alright babe, take your time. I miss you.
Isla rolled her eyes and dropped the phone on her desk.
“A penny for your thoughts?” Noah’s voice startled her, making her stand up immediately.
“Are you done, sir?” Isla asked, her head bowed low to avoid his gaze but they weren’t particularly on the floor. They were fixed on his veiny hands.
Noah had rolled his shirt sleeves up and had also gotten rid of his tie in frustration. Brenda had had him in a chokehold ever since their divorce announcement.
“Rearrange tomorrow’s schedule, we will be traveling to Brooklyn for a 3–day business trip. The jet leaves by 8: 00 am. Don’t be late.”
Before Isla could utter a word, Noah walked past her towards the exit. She stood still like a statue, trying to process what just happened.
“Are you not coming?” Noah’s sharp voice broke the ice and she swiftly packed her belongings and ran after him.
“I need to call Eleanor,” Isla whispered as she followed behind Noah.
As the private jet soared through the skies, Noah Cross settled into his seat, adjusting his tie and gazing out the window at the clouds below. His secretary, Isla sat across from him, her laptop open and the notebook at ready.
“Mr. Cross, I have confirmed our schedule for the trip,” Isla said, her voice steady and professional. “We have a meeting with the marketing team tomorrow at 10 am, followed by a lunch meeting with the sales team. On Thursday, we have a presentation at the Brooklyn Convention Center,
Noah nodded, his eyes still fixed on the window outside. “Good. I want to make sure we are prepared for that presentation. Can you review the slides and make sure everything is up to date?
“Already done,” Isla replied, tapping away on her laptop.
“What about accommodations?” Noah asked, his voice low and steady.
Isla’s eyes widened in panic as she realized her mistake. She had forgotten to book their accommodations for this trip.
“Mr. Cross. Can…can I tell you something?” Isla stuttered, her face flushing with embarrassment. Noah turned to face her, a hint of curiosity and amusement in his eyes. “What is it, Miss Hamilton?”

Isla took a deep breath like it was her last. “I… I forgot to book our hotel rooms for this trip.
Noah’s expression changed from curiosity to shock. “You forgot to book our hotel rooms?
Isla bit down on her lower lips in embarrassment, “I am deeply sorry Mr. Cross. I will work on it immediately.”
Noah leaned back in his seat, his eyes watching the rosy cheek redhead who was dying in embarrassment. ” Well, I suppose it’s not the end of the world. We can always book a room last minute.”
Isla nodded frantically as relief washed over her, “Yes, of course. I am working on it, Sir.”
As Isla quickly got to work on her phone, booking a last–minute room at a nearby hotel. Noah couldn’t help but
watch with admiration.
She was a beautiful young woman in her early twenties. He saw her age in her CV. She is 21 years old, a year younger than his little brother. Her redhead glistened under the hue of the sunlight seeping in through the window and her bright green eyes wandered across her screen. Despite her mistakes, she was competent and eager to learn.
Soon the jet came to a halt and as they exited the jet, they made their way to the hotel.
Noah found himself wanting to be closer to Isla, even when they got down from the designated cab, he walked closer to her than necessary. His hand brushed against hers lightly.
Isla, on her part, found it amusing and strange, somehow she craved his touch but it was forbidden and she had a boyfriend. But her mind keeps creating images of hot sex with her boss. When he held the small of her back to move her away from the left side of the road, she felt her cunt throb.
As they arrived at the hotel, they walked to the receptionist counter. Isla and Noah share a brief smile. The receptionist, a friendly–looking woman greeted them warmly.
“Good afternoon! Welcome to the Brooklyn Marriott. How can I help you?”
Isla handed over the reservation to the receptionist who scanned it briefly before looking up at them with an apologetic expression.
“I’m sorry, but it seems that the available space is just for one person. We are fully booked, and I won’t be able to provide you with a separate room.”
Noah and Isla exchanged a surprised glance,
The receptionist continued, “However, I can offer you a spacious room with a king–size bed. I promise you it will be comfortable.”
Noah raised an eyebrow, looking at Isla. “It seems like we have no other option.”
Isla’s cheeks flushed, and she tucked a few strands of her hair behind her ears.
“Will you be comfortable sharing a room, Sir?” she asked, her eyes locked on Noah’s.
“Don’t make it weird,” Noah said as he turned to the receptionist. “We will take it.”
She nodded, pushing back her chair she stood up and turned her back against the to grab their room keys from
the board.

“Enjoy your stay in the Brooklyn Marriott!” the receptionist said, handing over the keys to them.
“Thank you,” Isla replied, with a tight smile.
As they walked to their rooms, Noah turned to Isla and smiled. “Despite the rocky start, I think this trip is going to be just fine.”
“I take back my word,” Noah said, as they opened the room door.
The king–sized bed was more pauper–sized. The two of them can barely fit on the bed without physical touch.
Isla cussed silently under her breath but Noah’s ear caught the word. He looked at her and smiled.
“We can’t cry over spilled milk. Go in, let’s settle down. We have a busy day ahead of us tomorrow.”
Isla nodded and walked into the small room, Noah followed and locked the door behind them.
