AMANDA’S POV
School ended faster than usual, or at least it felt that way with everything that was happening in my head. I think I’m going crazy at this point.
I barely managed to shove my books into my bag before heading for the exit. As I stepped outside, I spotted Xavier’s car parked right out front.
I could see people glancing at it, probably trying to figure out who owned the car. I would also be interested in who owned such an expensive car.
Near the school gates, I saw Shawn waiting for me, just like he always did. His face lit up when he saw me, but the second I waved at him, pinged towards Xavier’s car and started walking towards it, his smile faded into a confused
frown.
I knew he’d ask about it later, he always asked about everything. Without a second glance, I yanked open the passenger door and slid inside, plopping my bag onto the floor by my feet.
I hoped no one else saw me enter. I’d be gossiped about for weeks and I didn’t want that right now and there was no way I could explain that he was my rich step uncle.
Xavier glanced over at me, the corner of his mouth tugging into a small smile. “Hey, Amy,” he greeted. “Do you want me to take you home, or would you rather come to the office with me? I’ve still got a bit of work to finish.”
For a second, I pretended to think about it, though I already knew what I wanted. “Your office is fine,” I said, clicking my seatbelt into place.
The ride over was quiet, the kind of quiet that wasn’t awkward but wasn’t exactly comfortable either. Every now and then, I caught him sneaking glances at me, his eyes darting over like he was checking to make sure I hadn’t disappeared.
I didn’t say anything, just stared out the window as the city blurred by as he drove.
When we finally pulled into the parking garage of his office building, I couldn’t help but gape a little. The place was massive, like, skyscraper massive. The kind of building that screamed “big deal” without saying a single word.
“Wow,” I mumbled under my breath as I climbed out of the car, craning my neck to take it all in.
Xavier smirked, locking the car with a quick press of a button. “Impressive, huh?”
“Yeah,” I admitted, trailing after him toward the elevator. I could feel people’s eyes on us as we walked through the lobby, their gazes bouncing back and forth between us.
I guessed it wasn’t every day that their CEO strolled in with a random nineteen–year–old girl tagging along.
The elevator ride to his floor was quick, but it was long enough for me to notice how tense Xavier seemed. He was usually so calm, but now there was something almost… nervous about him. Not that I was going to ask Not yet,
anyway.
When the elevator doors slid open, the first person I saw was his secretary, a tall, sharp–looking woman who seemed like she could kill a person with one look. “Amelia,” Xavier said, giving her a polite nod. “This is Amanda. Amanda, Amelia.”
“Hi,” I said, offering her a small wave. Amelia’s gaze flicked to me, coldly. She didn’t even bother to hide the way her lips curved downward in a tight frown.

“Yeah, hi,” she said coldly. I kind of wanted to roll my eyes, but I bit my tongue and followed Xavier into his office instead. Whatever Amelia’s problem was, I wasn’t about to let it ruin my mood.
Xavier’s office was huge, with floor–to–ceiling windows that showed a breathtaking view of the city. He gestured for me to sit on the plush sofa near the corner of the room. “Make yourself comfortable,” he said as he walked over to his desk. “Do you want anything? Tea? Cookies?”
I raised an eyebrow, amused by the oddly specific offer. “Cookies, huh? Do you always keep snacks in your office?”
He chuckled softly, shaking his head. “I’ll take that as a no.”
I shrugged, sinking into the sofa as he got to work. For a while, I just sat there, staring outside the window, but my eyes kept drifting back to him. He was so focused, his brows furrowed as he typed something on his laptop.
The way his fingers moved over the keyboard was very fast, but eventually, I started getting bored.
I stood up and wandered over to his desk, next to him, leaning against the edge. He glanced up at me. “Everything okay?”
“I’m bored,” I said, resting my chin in my hand.
“What do you want to do?” he asked, his voice a little distracted as he turned back to his work.
I didn’t answer right away, just leaned closer, my eyes scanning over whatever he was working on. I could feel his gaze shift back to me, and for some reason, that made my heart skip a beat.
Without thinking, I leaned in even closer, so close that if I moved just a little more, my boobs would brush against his face.
Xavier sucked in a breath and finally turned to look at me fully. “What are you doing, Amy?” he asked slowly.
I smiled, turning my head innocently. “Getting what I want.”
For a moment, he just stared at me. Then, before I could even process what was happening, he grabbed me by the waist and pulled me onto his lap, his hand holding my waist tightly as he sat me down facing him. My heart was racing so fast I thought it might actually burst out of my chest.
“Seriously,” he said with a sigh, his eyes locked on mine. “What are you doing?”
I couldn’t help the smile that spread across my face. “I already told you,” I whispered, leaning in just a little closer. “Getting what I want.”
His eyes darkened, and for a second, I thought he might push me away. But then, before I could overthink it, his lips crashed against mine.
Xavier deepened the kiss, pulling my head closer to him. As we kissed, we started melting into each other. He pushed his tongue into my mouth and I open for him.
