There he was.
George stood with a group of men, a drink in his hand, his posture relaxed, until his gaze landed on her.
His entire body went still.
His dark eyes widened slightly, as if he wasn’t sure she was real. His drink lowered, forgotten, and Cheryl saw the way his throat bobbed as he swallowed.
She felt breathless.
The way he looked at her, the raw hunger in his stare, made her feel like the only woman in the room. And she couldn’t deny he still looked sexy as ever with his hair styled back, his clean shaven face and his beautiful eyes.
Cheryl didn’t hesitate.
With a soft smile playing on her lips, she stepped forward, moving through the crowd. Each step brought her closer to him, closer to the man she had spent months aching for.
And then she was there, standing right in front of him.
George opened his mouth, but before he could say anything, she threw her arms around his neck and pulled him down, pressing her lips to his.
The world around them blurred, the music, the voices, the movement–none of it mattered.
George’s arms wrapped around her waist, holding her tight as he kissed her back with the kind of desperation that left her breathless.
She could taste him, feel the warmth of his body against hers, the tension in his muscles as if he was afraid to let
Time seemed to slow, stretch, and suspend itself in this one perfect moment. Then, as if reality finally caught up, the room erupted into cheers and applause. Cheryl barely registered it. All she knew was George.
And she wasn’t letting him go again.
EPILOGUE
Cheryl stood in the middle of the bedroom, the soft glow of the bedside lamp casting golden hues over George’s bare skin. He moved slowly, his fingers untying the knot of her robe, letting the silky fabric slide from her shoulders.
As it pooled at her feet, a shiver ran through her, not from the cool air, but from the way his gaze devoured her, the way his calloused hands traced slow, reverent paths down her arms,
A memory surfaced, pulling her back to the night of Vanessa’s birthday.
After their kiss, she had pulled back, breathless, and without a second thought, she had yelled out, calling the attention of the crowds.
‘George Carter, I’m in love with you, and I want the world to know!”

Gasps. Cheers. Laughter. The entire hall had erupted into noise, but all Cheryl had heard was the sharp hitch of George’s breath, the way his eyes darkened with something fierce and uncontainable.
And then he yelled back.
“I love you too, Cheryl Quinn! And I can’t live without you!”
Another kiss. Another promise sealed between them.
Now,
five years later, with George’s hands mapping out every familiar curve of her body, she knew she had never once looked back with regret.
His lips found the shell of her ear, his voice a husky murmur, “Do you regret anything about our marriage?”
Cheryl turned in his arms, her palms pressing against his firm chest. She smiled, tracing a finger down the line of his jaw. “It’s been five years, and I’ve never had a single regret.” Her voice dropped to a whisper, playful yet full of truth. “Instead, I crave you every single day.”
A low growl rumbled in his throat as he cupped her ass, pulling her flush against him. “You’ll never regret being with me,” he vowed, lips brushing against hers. “Because I’ll spend the rest of my life making you happy.”
She kissed him then, deep and slow, her body melting into his. Just as she was about to straddle him, fully lost in the moment, there was a knock.
A loud, insistent one.
And then, Vanessa yelled out smugly. “Looks like someone’s baby needs to be fed.”
Cheryl groaned, dropping her forehead against George’s shoulder. He chuckled, his body shaking slightly with
amusement.
With a sigh, she padded over to the door, still gloriously naked, and yanked it open just enough to glare at her friend and her baby. Vanessa stood there, a knowing smirk on her face as she took in Cheryl’s appearance.
“Really?” Cheryl hissed.
Vanessa only grinned. “Hey, my sister comes first. But seeing the situation, I think I’ll let this one pass,” She winked before sauntering off, leaving Cheryl exasperated but grinning despite herself.
Shaking her head, she shut the door, turning the lock with a click before spinning back to George, who was watching her with a lazy, heated smile.
Without hesitation, she ran back to the bed, launching herself into his arms. He caught her effortlessly, his strong hands gripping her thighs as she straddled him once again.
“I love you,” he murmured, brushing a loose strand of hair behind her ear.
Cheryl smiled, her heart swelling in the way it always did when he looked at her like that.
“I love you too.”
And as his lips claimed hers once more, she knew, five years, ten, a lifetime, she would always be exactly where she belonged.

Isla’s black stiletto heel made a sharp, clicking sound as it hit the cold tiled floor. Her long pale legs threw themselves forward in long strides, and her curvy hips moved along with the speed, except for her hands that clutched tightly a blue folder against her chest that contained her documents.
Bead–like drops of sweat trickled down her face, soiling her perfect makeup leaving just the crimson–red lipstick she wore to complement her professional look.
She wore a gray blouse with a slight V–neck that sat comfortably on her firm bosoms and a black plain knee- length skirt that hugged her body tightly, giving her legs a hard time getting to the interview area early.
She reached into her purse and brought out a neatly folded handkerchief. She dabbed her face gently with it while trying to maintain her composure. Her legs soon brought her to the interview lounge where a close number of 20 individuals sat waiting for their names to be called.
Seeing that they had all occupied the seats, she stood by the white wall and leaned against it to support herself. Isla tapped the tip of her heels on the ground rhythmically, a soothing habit when she was nervous, but she didn’t seem to notice that the sharp sound was pissing off the angry individuals.
A soft tap pulled her back to reality as she flinched at the stranger’s touch. Instinctively, she turned to see a beautiful brunette with rosy cheeks.
