Hired a Gigolo Got a Billionaire (Zoey and Christian) novel Chapter 113

Annie’s face turned into a mask of confusion, her brows furrowed as she tried to process my words.

“I’m still not following.” She crossed her arms. “If you are pregnant, that would explain the nausea, the mood swings, but what does that have to do with not telling Christian you love him?”

I wiped my tears with the back of my hands, aware that my makeup was probably a disaster by now.

“Did you forget Christian doesn’t want to be a father?” My voice was barely a whisper. “He never did. He made that perfectly clear.”

“But…”

“And earlier, at the overlook, before we…” I gestured vaguely, encompassing everything that had happened. ” Before we got distracted, we were talking about how the contract doesn’t make sense anymore now that Joseph admitted he always knew.”

Annie blinked several times, trying to catch up.

“I’m lost.”

“He’s going to think the pregnancy thing is just my way of trapping him.” The words came out bitter, painful. ‘ Now that there’s no contract, no reason for us to keep pretending, he’s going to think I made it up to keep him close. To hang on to the perks of being a Kensington.”

“Zoey.” Annie grabbed my shoulders, forcing me to look at her. “You’re talking about the man who just told you he loves you. That doesn’t make any sense.”

A humorless laugh escaped me as I wiped away another round of stubborn tears.

“Men say all kinds of things after sex, Annie.” I shook my head, my voice edged with despair. “But not after the consequences of it.”

“That’s ridiculous.” Annie let go of my shoulders, clearly exasperated. “He took care of you that time you took the test, remember? When you were feeling sick.”

“Yeah, and he looked relieved when it came back negative.” I swallowed hard, the memory of Christian’s face hitting me again. “But did you ever think maybe it was too early for the test to detect anything? And when I went to the doctor, I never mentioned a possible pregnancy—I just talked about the symptoms.”

Annie studied me for a long moment, her frustration slowly softening into something gentler.

“Zoey,” she said quietly. “You’re scared.”

It wasn’t a question, and I couldn’t deny it. I nodded, new tears threatening to fall.

“I’m terrified,” I admitted, my voice barely audible. “I love him so much, Annie. And now, when we might finally have a chance at something real-no contracts, no pretending…

“You think a possible pregnancy could ruin it.” Annie finished for me, finally understanding.

“You didn’t see how he reacted the first time,” I said, wrapping my arms around myself, suddenly cold despite the warm night. “He was relieved, Annie. Honestly relieved.”

Annie sighed and pulled me into a tight hug. I leaned into her, letting myself sink into the comfort she offered. For a moment, we were just sisters again-no billionaire husbands, no contracts, no family legacies or possible pregnancies. Just Annie and Zoey, like the old days, when our biggest problems were choosing which movie to watch on a Friday night.

“Listen,” Annie said, pulling back slightly, her hands still on my shoulders-but this time in reassurance, not alarm. “Here’s what we’re gonna do: forget about it for the rest of the weekend, okay? Go back to your ridiculously handsome husband and enjoy the party.”

“Annie…”

“No, seriously.” She was in full big-sister mode now, even though she was technically the younger one. “When we get back to Solara, we’ll take another test together. One of the good ones, the digital kind that can’t go wrong. And I’ll be right there with you, no matter what the result is. Deal?”

Annie gave me a quick hug before heading toward the door.

“Remember our deal,” she said, pointing a finger at me like a teacher scolding a student. “This weekend is for enjoying yourself. No panic, no drama. Just you, your hot husband, and maybe another round of those twenty minutes on the overlook.”

“Annie!” My face flushed, but I couldn’t stop the smile tugging at my lips.

“I mean it!” She peeked into the hallway to make sure it was clear. “Pregnancy sex is supposed to be amazing, from what I’ve heard. All those hormones…”

“I’m going to kill you,” I muttered, though there wasn’t a shred of real anger in it.

“Kill me after the test,” she said with a wink. “Now come on, Mrs. Kensington. Your husband’s probably wondering where you disappeared to.”

I took a steadying breath, smoothing my dress one last time before following her out. Annie was right. There was nothing I could do about my suspicions tonight. The best I could do was enjoy what was left of the weekend, just like she said.

But as we walked back toward the party, my hand drifted instinctively to my stomach, a confusing mix of fear and something dangerously close to hope growing inside me.

Maybe it was just stress, or that stubborn “virus” that hadn’t gone away yet. Or maybe… maybe it was the beginning of something that would make it impossible to keep the careful boundaries of my agreement with Christian intact.

Whatever the truth was, it would have to wait until after the weekend. For now, there was a husband I loved- even if I hadn’t yet managed to say the words aloud-waiting for me in that ballroom.

And if there was one thing I’d learned over the past few months, it was that some moments were too precious to waste, even with an uncertain future ahead.
