Hired a Gigolo Got a Billionaire (Zoey and Christian) novel Chapter 127

Chapter 127

I ran through the halls of Silvercrest Medical Center like my life depended on it, my heart pounding so hard it hurt. to breathe. The fluorescent lights blurred above me, and the antiseptic smell made me queasy-or maybe it was the pregnancy hormones mixing with sheer panic.

“Christian Kensington,” I gasped to the nurse at the floor’s reception desk. “Where is Christian Kensington?”

“One moment, please.” The woman typed something on her computer with maddening calm. “He’s in room 412. Are you family?”

“I’m his wife,” I said quickly, already moving down the hallway before she could say another word.

Annie hurried behind me, trying to keep up with my frantic pace. I found room 412 and was about to push the door open when a voice stopped me.

“You must be Mrs. Kensington.”

I turned and saw a woman in a white coat approaching. She looked fairly young, her red hair pulled into a neat ponytail, her gentle smile doing little to hide the seriousness in her eyes,

“Yes, that’s me.” My voice came out desperate and shaky. “I’m Zoey, Christian’s wife. How is he? No one’s told me what happened-”

“I’m Dr. Alice Dalton, the surgeon overseeing your husband’s case.” She offered her hand, and I gripped it quickly. “I’m glad you’re here. We’ve been in touch with his cousin, Marcus, but it’s always best to have immediate family close by.”

“Please, tell me how he’s doing,” I begged, feeling tears sting my eyes again. “No one’s given me any details…”

Dr. Dalton motioned for us to step aside from the door, her tone calm but weighted-the kind of tone doctors used when they had to deliver serious news.

“Your husband was brought in last night after a severe car accident. He sustained a head injury, several fractured ribs, and internal bleeding in the abdomen.” She spoke gently, but each word hit like a blade. “We had to take him into emergency surgery right away to stop the bleeding and relieve the pressure on his brain.”

My knees gave out, and Annie immediately caught my arm to steady me.

“But he’s going to be okay, right?” I asked, my voice trembling. “He’s going to recover?”

“The surgery went well,” the doctor assured me. “We managed to control the bleeding and remove the hematoma pressing on his brain. He’s been kept in a medically induced coma for the past several hours to let his brain rest and the swelling go down. But we began reducing the sedation this morning.”

“What does that mean?”

“It means he could wake up any time now.” Her smile softened, this time with genuine relief. “His vitals have been steadily improving. He’s young, strong, and he’s responded remarkably well to treatment.”

A rush of relief hit me so hard I nearly collapsed right there in the hall.

“Can I see him?” I asked urgently.

“Of course. He’s right in there.” She gestured toward the door marked 412. “You can stay with him as long as you like. If he wakes up, there’s a red button by the bed to call a nurse. Don’t be alarmed if he seems disoriented at first -that’s normal after head trauma.”
