Hired a Gigolo Got a Billionaire (Zoey and Christian) novel Chapter 185

Chapter 185

The morning of Matt’s discharge began long before sunrise. I’d woken up several times during the night, checking the clock, counting the hours until I could finally take my baby home. Christian slept fitfully beside me, just as restless, and by the time the alarm went off at six, we’d both already been awake for at least an hour.

At the hospital, the final procedures seemed to take forever. Dr. Porter went over every one of Matt’s tests, checked his weight, tested his reflexes, and once again explained all the precautions we’d need to take at home. Every instruction mattered, but my heart was beating so hard with anticipation that I had to ask him to repeat a few things.

“He’s perfect,” the doctor finally said with a smile as he signed the discharge papers. “A healthy baby who just needed a little extra time to get stronger.”

When they finally placed Matt in my arms, dressed in his very first outfit for home, tears of pure joy streamed down my face It a pale blue onesie that Christian had picked out himself. It was real. I was really taking my son home.

The drive back was at a turtle’s pace, Christian gripping the wheel and driving with painstaking care, as if he were transporting the most precious treasure in the world. And he was. Matt slept the whole way, completely unaware of how monumental the moment was.

“Welcome home, my love,” I whispered when Christian parked in front of our house.

Joseph was waiting for us on the porch, leaning on his cane but beaming with pride. Isabelle stood beside him, her hands nervously clasped together, her eyes shining with emotion. Carmen had decorated the entrance with blue balloons and a simple banner that read: Welcome Home, Matt.

“Let me see my great-grandson,” Joseph said, his voice trembling as we approached.

I carefully placed Matt in his unsteady arms and watched as the old man’s face softened completely. It was as if every worry of the past few months melted away in that single, perfect moment of family joy.

“He’s perfect,” Joseph whispered, his voice thick with emotion. “Absolutely perfect. Welcom family, little one.”

Isabelle stepped closer, hesitant, her eyes fixed on her grandson.

“May I?” she asked quietly.

“Of course,” I said, touching her arm gently. “He’s your grandson.’

When Isabelle held Matt for the first time, something magical happened. Tears rolled silently down her cheeks, and I saw the icy woman I once knew melt away. It was as if Matt’s arrival had awakened a part of her that had been sleeping for years.

“Thank you,” she whispered, her voice full of genuine gratitude as she looked at me.

After the family moments, Christian turned to me with an idea that touched me deeply.

“Want to show him everything that will one day be his?” he asked, gesturing toward the land that stretched around us.

We walked slowly across the property, Matt cradled in my arms, shaded from the sun by an umbrella but wide awake, his curious blue eyes taking in everything. Christian pointed to different areas, explaining each one as if our two-month-old son could actually understand.

“Those are the oldest vineyards on the estate,” he said, pride warming his voice. “Your great-grandfather planted those vines over fifty years ago. One day, you’ll walk those rows the way I walked them with my grandfather.”

Matt seemed to fix his gaze on the green leaves swaying softly in the breeze, as if he were really listening to his father’s explanation.

“And over there,” Christian went on, pointing toward the modern buildings, “that’s where we make our best wines. Joseph taught me everything I know in those cellars. Maybe one day you’ll want to learn too. Or maybe you’ll choose an entirely different path. And that’s okay.”
