“You don’t have to like it,” I replied. “You just have to obey.”
The words came out clean.
I walked out.
Outside, I rested my hand on the doorknob for a second. I needed to make sure the door was locked, that the noise from the rest of the house wouldn’t carry through.
The soundproofing helped.
I went back to the living room with the steady steps of someone who had already decided. It wasn’t that I was proud of what I was doing. I didn’t look at myself in the mirror and think what a beautiful career. I didn’t wake up happy about it.
I did it.
Until I could get the increase in child support. The lifestyle adjustment I deserved. I needed to support myself.
And I had learned early on that maintaining a standard of living requires two things. Appearance and money.
I always had the appearance.
The money… sometimes you go looking where it is.
The first time, on that trip, it was almost an accident.
A man with too much money, too much desire, and zero discretion. A conversation that started with a compliment and ended with a proposition. I said no. Said no again. Said no with the right kind of firmness.
And then I looked at the price.
Once you cross the line once, it stops looking like an abyss and starts looking like a step. And over time, a step becomes a path.
I wasn’t stupid enough to expose myself where anyone could see. I created the profile on a luxury site. One of those that sold the fantasy of exclusivity to men who believed everything could be bought, including silence.
Usually, the clients were… appropriate.
People who didn’t take pictures.
People who didn’t ask unnecessary questions.
People who paid to feel in control and left satisfied with the illusion.
I started getting ready ahead of time. Shower. Hair. Skin. A dress that wasn’t vulgar, but was sexy.
I went downstairs at the right time, and soon enough the doorbell rang.
When I opened the door, I had to keep my expression steady.
He was handsome.
Dark hair, slightly wavy, Striking brown eyes. The kind that seem to observe everything and say nothing. A tit body even undet the suit. Not gym sculpted. The kind of man who uses his body as a tool.
I liked it.
I always liked it when they were handsome.
It made things… more pleasant.
I smiled, seductive.

“Good evening,” I said.
He looked me up and down with a level of control I recognized instantly.
Worse than desire was control.
Control was dangerous.
I kept my tone, kept my posture.
“Please,” I invited, stepping aside to let him in. “Come in.”
