His Ex-Wife Is A Billionaire (Evadne and Thaddeus) novel Chapter 1218

Pinned to her chest was a brooch of her own design: a golden iris made of yellow gems. Its meaning was victory.

“Ms. Evadne, we’ll make it in time!” Jason said, his eyes determined as he floored the accelerator.

“Safety first,” Evadne replied, her voice calm. In this critical moment, she was remarkably composed. “Nydia is due any day now. You’re about to be a father. You have a wife and child now, so don't be so reckless.”

A happy, contented smile spread across Jason’s face at the thought of his soon-to-be-born son.

Evadne closed her eyes, her mind racing. In truth, she was running on fumes. She hadn’t had a single night of peaceful sleep since Elsie disappeared, developing severe anxiety. The Evadne who could sleep through an earthquake was gone. She had fought her way out of a pile of dead bodies and solved countless impossible problems. She refused to believe that this time would be any different. She would not lose to Chad.

Just as they passed the toll booth into Elmsworth, Evadne’s phone rang. It was an unknown number. Normally, she wouldn’t answer, but today, a strange feeling in her gut told her this call was important.

She answered, pressing the phone to her ear. “Hello, who is this?”

The next second, her beautiful eyes flew open, her heart pounding violently in her chest.

Thanks to Hans, Thaddeus and Cassius successfully reached the underground parking garage of the Abernathy Hotel with their witness.

“Gordon, are you okay?” Thaddeus asked, his brow furrowed as he looked at Gordon’s pale face.

“I’m… I’m fine!” Gordon forced a smile that was half grimace of pain.

Thaddeus’s lips tightened. He ripped off his own tie and expertly bandaged Gordon’s wound.

“Actually…”

Suddenly, a clanging sound echoed from the other end of the empty parking garage. Thaddeus and Cassius both got out of the car and looked.

A group of thugs armed with iron pipes were advancing on them, their presence dark and menacing. The sound was the pipes dragging along the concrete floor.

“Goddammit! Is this ever going to end?!” Gordon cursed, about to get out of the car himself before Mr. Zade held him back.

Thaddeus and Cassius exchanged a look of understanding, their fists clenching simultaneously. They had come this far. There was no room for fear.

Let the storm rage.
