"Dad, you and I are two of a kind. We are the embodiment of sin."
Frederic's eyes widened in terror. He couldn't believe that his trusted eldest son was now using his darkest secret to threaten and intimidate him.
"Thaddeus is capable, I'll grant you that. But he's too much like our uncle—too kind, too sentimental. People like that aren't cut out for business, and they certainly aren't fit to lead a corporation."
Chad rose slowly, and to Frederic, he seemed to transform into a handsome monster, growing until he blotted out the light. He moved closer, placing a cool, clean hand on Frederic's slumped shoulder. His fingers tightened, the pressure a clear and menacing threat.
"Dad, only I can lead the Abernathy Group into a new era. Thaddeus’s past achievements are commendable, but they are insignificant compared to my grand vision. You chose me. You must trust that your choice was the right one."
Frederic stared at him, his heart constricting with fear.

In the early hours of the morning, Hans awoke in a hospital room. It took him a moment to process his surroundings. A single, dim lamp cast a warm glow by the bedside. The room was quiet, filled with a peaceful, comforting atmosphere he had never experienced before, yet it felt strangely familiar.
His body ached as he struggled to sit up. Suddenly, his eyes widened.
Suri was asleep in a chair by his bed, her head resting on the mattress. Her hair was slightly disheveled, and her eyelids were swollen, as if she had been crying.
Hans froze, his breath catching in his throat. He leaned closer, his pale face nearing hers. His fingers twitched with an overwhelming urge to touch her.
Just then, Suri’s eyelashes fluttered, and she murmured in her sleep, "Hubery… Hubery… Mom misses you so much…" A single tear escaped the corner of her eye and traced a silent path down her cheek.
A sharp pang went through Hans's heart. He reached out, his calloused fingertips gently wiping away the tear. The moment he touched her, a powerful jolt shot through him, and a throbbing pain flared in his temples. But strangely, he found himself drawn to the sensation, wishing the moment could last forever.
