Chasel's pale face flushed crimson, and he quickly pulled his hand from Cassius's grasp. "Come on, you two are practically an old married couple. There's no need to be shy!" Evadne teased with a laugh. "Evadne, you know Chasel gets embarrassed easily. Stop teasing him," Cassius said, catching Chasel's hand again and gently rubbing his knuckles. He wasn't going to let him pull away for a single second. Jareth wrapped a protective arm around his wife's waist. As he looked at Cassius's bandaged eye, his throat tightened. He fought down the overwhelming sorrow and spoke in a raspy voice, "I only heard about everything from Thad after the fact. Why didn't you guys tell me? Just because I'm married doesn't mean I'm dead. We're brothers. I would have dropped everything to help you!" Jareth had been out of the country when the chaos happened. With the Fairhaven group running smoothly and profits soaring, he had confidently delegated his duties to travel the world with Marilla. Under his constant care and love, Marilla's mental health had drastically improved. Her smile was bright and radiant. She no longer kept her head down in timid silence, too afraid to make eye contact. Being loved was the ultimate medicine. Jareth was exactly the sunshine Marilla had needed to bloom. Cassius smiled softly. "We had enough people, and everything was handled. Don't worry." Jareth still felt a heavy weight on his chest, a deep frown creasing his forehead. "Cassius, how is your eye? Does it still hurt?" Marilla asked, her eyes turning red as she noticed how much weight he had lost. "I'm fine. Thank you for asking." Cassius leaned over and pressed a kiss to Chasel's cheek. "All of you think it's a tragedy that I lost an eye. But what you don't know is that this is the happiest moment of my entire life. Chasel is back. He's making me porridge. I couldn't have dreamed of a better day than this." Only after losing everything do you truly appreciate getting it back. "Wait a second..." Evadne's eyes lit up as she stepped in front of Marilla, staring pointedly at the slight bump under her loose dress. "Marilla, are you...?" Marilla blushed deeply. Jareth looked at his wife with boundless affection, his large hand gently resting on her stomach. "With everything going on, we didn't get a chance to share the good news. Marilla is four months pregnant." (P.S. First major milestone hit! Thank you all for the support! The story will wrap up soon, so stay tuned!)
