His Ex-Wife Is A Billionaire (Evadne and Thaddeus) novel Chapter 1350

Holden and Dennis pulled out their phones simultaneously to check the notifications.

Both of their faces drained of color at the exact same moment. They spoke in unison:

"Mr. Frederic, something happened!"

"Sir, something happened!"

"What now?!" Frederic snapped, his patience entirely exhausted.

Dennis looked grim, glancing nervously at Chad. He wanted to read the report word for word, but Chad's chilling, predatory gaze made his scalp tingle with anxiety. For a moment, he couldn't figure out how to say it.

Losing his temper, Frederic snatched the phone right out of Dennis's hand.

The next second, it felt like a bomb went off inside his head. His ears rang, and he stared at the screen in pure disbelief.

"What is this?! 'Innocent young girl brutally stabbed over twenty times. A Real-Name Report accuses Abernathy Group CEO Chad Abernathy of murdering a teenage housemaid twenty years ago. The Abernathy family orchestrated a massive cover-up to hide the truth. Urging authorities to launch a full investigation and bring justice to the victim's family'?!"

He was horrified, shocked, and utterly stunned. His eye twitched violently with rage as he hurled the phone directly at Chad's chest. "What the hell kind of news is this?! What murdered housemaid?! What family cover-up?! Chad, how did this happen?! How are you wrapped up in yet another murder investigation?! What the hell are you doing?!"

Even in his blinding rage, Frederic only threw the phone at Chad's chest.

If it had been Thaddeus standing there, he would have aimed right for his face. He certainly wouldn't have shown such restraint.

It wasn't because he loved his eldest son more.

It was because Frederic harbored a deep, instinctual terror of the Austin blood running through Chad's veins.

It always felt like the man he had watched grow up might suddenly lunge forward and rip his throat out with his teeth.

Chad remained entirely emotionless. He lazily picked up the phone that had bounced onto the sofa and casually scrolled through the trending news.

Frederic's chest seized with a sharp pain. "The article says this was a Real-Name Report. If someone has the guts to use their real identity, it means they have solid evidence proving you killed that maid!

"Chad, did you do it? When did this happen? Who helped you cover it up? Did you actually kill someone?! Why wasn't I told?!"

Chad let out a low laugh, though his eyes remained utterly dead. "Hahaha... you really are amusing, Dad. Did you expect me to put up billboards and announce to the world that I killed someone?"

The air in the study instantly froze. You could hear a pin drop.

"What are you saying... Are you telling me... everything in this report is true?" Frederic was completely paralyzed with shock.

"Yes. So what?"

Chad adjusted the cuffs of his shirt, his long fingers casually tracing his expensive dark red cufflinks. "It's been over twenty years. The body is gone, the Murder Weapon is gone, and all the evidence is gone. Even the boy I was back then doesn't exist anymore.

"I was just a kid when I did it. So what if I killed her? Don't worry, Dad. The law can't touch me now."
