His Ex-Wife Is A Billionaire (Evadne and Thaddeus) novel Chapter 1364

"Who?" Chad's brow twitched.

Beneath his composed, strikingly handsome exterior, his heart raced.

Though he tried to hide it, seasoned detective Aaron Ashbourne saw right through his facade, a cold smirk touching his lips.

"Someone you know very well. Mr. Murray. He turned himself in and confessed everything about how he helped you cover up the murder. He's told the police everything. Chad Abernathy, I suggest you confess. Your crimes have nowhere left to hide."

"Oh, didn't you tell me when you arrested me that I have the right to remain silent?"

Chad crossed his arms, leaning back in his chair and closing his eyes in a show of complete relaxation. "I won't say a single word until my lawyer gets here."

Aaron took a deep breath, his eyes bloodshot with fury.

The bastard was infuriatingly calm.

It was going to be a long fight.

Soon, the lawyer arrived at the station, confronting Aaron.

"Captain Aaron, you keep calling my client a murderer, but you need solid evidence. Even if someone stepped forward to point fingers, it could easily be a setup to frame Mr. Chad. Twenty years. He kept quiet for twenty years, and now he suddenly comes forward? Does that sound reasonable to you?

"I have every reason to believe he was put up to this to drag my client down and force him out of the Abernathy group's line of succession. Mr. Hamilton is still in critical condition. If he doesn't make it, and my client is framed for murder, the company and the inheritance would naturally fall into Thaddeus's hands, wouldn't they?"

The lawyer was on a roll, diving deep into conspiracy theories. "Everyone in Elmsworth knows the bad blood between Mr. Chad and Thaddeus. It's an open secret that Thaddeus covets his brother's position. Shouldn't you be investigating him instead, Captain Aaron?"

"You're good at spinning tales," Aaron scoffed. "It's a shame you're just a lawyer."

The lawyer gritted his teeth.

The bloody memories flooded his mind. Instead of fear, a chilling laugh escaped his lips, as if he were reminiscing about a fun game.

Even his own lawyer shuddered at the sound.

What a psycho!

Aaron clenched his jaw, fighting the urge to shoot the man right there. But that would be letting him off too easy.

"I don't know what that is. I don't remember," Chad repeated.

"This is the weapon you used to murder Nora Jones. It has her blood on it, as well as yours, and your fingerprints."

Aaron's eyes blazed. "Didn't expect this, did you? You thought destroying the body and having someone clean up your mess meant you were safe. Little did you know, your grandfather saw right through your psychopathic nature. He kept the weapon, waiting for the day you finally lost control, so he could use this very blade to take you down himself!"
