His Ex-Wife Is A Billionaire (Evadne and Thaddeus) novel Chapter 1380

Meanwhile, Evadne received the news of Chad's medical bail during a high-level board meeting at the KS Group. She slammed her hands onto the table and stood up, her eyes blazing red with a fury so intense she nearly lost her composure in front of everyone!

The executives in the room instantly held their breath, completely terrified.

"That's all for today, everyone. Meeting adjourned."

With a frosty expression, Evadne stormed out of the conference room.

"How is this possible?! How could they let that monster out?!" Evadne paced frantically around her office, a thin sheen of sweat breaking out on her forehead.

Jason Dempsey's eyes were red with indignation. Through gritted teeth, he said, "I heard Chad suffered a severe psychiatric break. His lawyer submitted comprehensive medical records proving he inherited a severe psychopathic disorder from his mother's side of the family."

Evadne's hands trembled uncontrollably as she balled them into fists. She leaned heavily against the edge of her desk just to stay upright.

"We planned for everything, but I never expected that bastard to have this up his sleeve. He clearly mapped out his escape route ages ago. Every move he makes is flawlessly calculated!"

Jason looked deeply concerned. "Even though his murder charge is a lock, this trump card will massively impact his sentencing. He was practically guaranteed the death penalty, but with a certified mental illness, he might only get life in prison!"

"We have to find concrete evidence tying him to The Genesis Lab. That's the only way to ensure he gets the death penalty!"

"But Ms. Evadne, our only core witness right now is Hubery Ashbourne. His testimony alone isn't strong enough. Alexia was our best bet, but she's dead. We don't have a single witness who can directly point the finger at that animal. He covers his tracks too well. He never shows his face during those dirty deals, and he never gets his own hands dirty. He's slicker than a snake!"

Despite her blinding rage, Evadne was never one to let her emotions dictate her actions for long. She took a deep breath, quickly steadying her mind and body. The bloodlust in her eyes chilled over.

"He has the blood of so many people on his hands. We have the murder weapon, and we have a witness. Even with bail, the paperwork couldn't possibly clear that fast. There's only one explanation: someone high up is pressuring the police to protect him."

Jason looked shocked. "Who?"

"Mayor Sean."

A cold, lethal glint flashed across Evadne's eyes. "He's been acting as Chad's political umbrella this entire time. They've been working closely together, which means he's probably involved with The Genesis Lab too. He's just another monster hiding behind a tailored suit!"

"Damn it! Elmsworth is rotten to the core! Chad must have a mountain of blackmail material on Mayor Sean to keep him on such a tight leash!"

"That's what happens when you make a deal with the devil. Sounds like we need to have a little chat with our good Mayor Sean."

"You're well aware of Mr. Abernathy's current predicament. From what he tells me, the two of you aren't just close business associates, but also very dear friends?"

The question hung in the air, laced with a chilling, probing edge.

Evadne's long eyelashes fluttered down, hiding her eyes as her hand silently clenched into a tight fist against the desk.

From behind, her posture remained perfectly composed. Even Jason couldn't detect a single crack in her armor.

"How is Chad holding up?" Evadne asked, keeping her voice low and even, though her expression was pure ice.

"Terrible, naturally. If he were fine, he wouldn't need medical bail, would he?"

Gorman paused for a moment before dropping his voice. "President Ashbourne, you know how important you are to Mr. Abernathy. In a crisis like this, you're the only person he wants to see.

"He's hoping you'll agree to meet him. Alone."
