I quickly make my way to the lake, I love this place, the view, the peace it always helps settle me but not today, today it’s just reminding me of all the times I’ve been here with Liam and it hurts. f**k my teenage hormones!

“Hey, pretty lady!” I don’t need to look up to know it’s Ashley he’s the only one here that calls me that well me, Brooke and Bella actually.

“Hey, Ash, how are you feeling now?”

“Like I’ve done 17 rounds with Alpha and lost every single one!” A chuckle escapes my mouth at his dramatics before I’m pulled down to earth by this heavy feeling that I’ve had in my chest since Liam introduced us to his mate.

“What’s going on in that pretty little head of yours huh?” He sits down next to me nudging my arm on his way down. I decide at that moment to tell Ashley everything I’ve been thinking and feeling about Liam since I meet him because if I don’t tell someone soon, I’m going to lose my s**t, even more so after this morning.

“Well, I didn’t see that one coming, but I get it, Liam is one fine piece of tail and the fucker even has the perfect personality to match, you won’t be the first teenager to crush on him or the last and I know this is hurting you but you will be ok I promise you that everything will work out as it should!”

“Do you trust me, Bethany?” Wow, he just called me Bethany, now I know he’s being serious.

“Of course, I do Ash!”

“Then please trust me when I say everything will be ok, this will work out just as it’s supposed to and when your 18 you will be blessed with the perfect mate and all this will be a distant memory!” He looks so confident when he speaks that it’s hard not to believe in what he says. I give him a nod just before he grabs my hand and starts walking me back towards the packhouse.

“Ashley, can you do something for me?”

“Anything baby doll!” and he’s back!

“Can you keep this a secret, please? It’s a crush that will go away soon enough now that Liam’s got his mate and I don’t want anyone laughing at me for thinking anything different.” I’m already embarrassed by myself.

“You got it doll, it’s our secret!” He gives my hand a gentle squeeze before carrying on with pulling me towards home…. towards them and we reach the house just as Jack comes out of the front door.

“Hey Beth, I was just going to link you, it’s time for training.”

“I don’t feel like training today sorry Jack, I think I’ll give it a miss.” The look on his face tells me different.

“Absolutely, not missy, nope not happening, let’s go!” He takes my hand that’s in Ashley’s hold and starts pulling me along as we say our goodbyes to Ashley and head for training, I guess if I can’t be sad then kicking someone’s a*s is the next best thing.

Alpha Calvin

Ashley linked me about an hour ago letting me know he needed to see me and Brooke once Jack was done with training and thankfully, he’s just finished and ready to meet because I fear Brooke is going to wear a hole in the carpet if she doesn’t sit down soon.

“*Knock knock**

“Come in!” Jack and Ashley step inside our lounge, quickly sit down, and finally, my girl comes and sits in my lap, the only place she should ever sit if you ask me.

“So, Ashley what’s going on?”

“I spoke with Beth earlier and…and… look she asked me to keep this a secret but let’s be honest we’re already keeping the biggest secret from her Anyway, I think you guys should know as she’s going to need watching over for a while but it has to be kept a secret, promise?”

We all quickly agree and he wastes no time in filling us in on his conversation with Beth and while Jack and I are clearly shocked, my girl doesn’t seem that surprised, I give her a look and she’s soon spilling out her thoughts.

“I’ve been watching her the past couple of weeks and I’ve had a feeling she had a crush on him, I didn’t see a reason to try and talk to her about it or talk her out of it because we all know how it’s going to work out anyway.” Her face is covered in the saddest look as she finishes talking and it breaks my heart.

“Where is she now?” I don’t want her alone right now.

“She’s with a couple of the teenagers in the games room, she’s ok!” Ashley quickly answers.

“Ok, I’m going to link Liam now and have him come here for Beta business and we’ll see wh at we can try and figure out.”

“Liam where are you?”

“I’m on my floor Alpha everything ok?”

“Can you come up to my lounge, please? I need your help with something.”

“Of course, Alpha be right up!” He’s talking to me way too formally and it only increases my suspicions. Within 5 minutes there’s a knock on the door I holla out for him to come in and Sarah follows her arm secured around his as if her life depends on it.

“Hey, guys, what’s going on?” He sits in the chair across from me and Sarah slides onto his lap smiling wide for all to see.

“We wanted to discuss the Jacoby situation with you, Liam, we were wondering when you thought the right time would be to tell Beth?”

“Nicely done brother, nicely done!” Jack links me and I’m just grateful I could think fast, truth is I didn’t have a plan but I also didn’t expect Sarah to come here with him either.

“Whenever you want to Alpha, that’s a decision for you, not me.” He’s talking formal and rigid and I’m starting to get f****d off!
