The next day…

“You want me to do what?”

“We want you to create a fake encounter of Jacoby hurting you for Liam to see.” Ahh, I’m confused!

“Hmm…why?”

“Obviously you know that some kind of spell has been put on Liam and that Annabella has been trying to help remove it, however, it’s proving to be a lot harder than Annabella thought. As long as Sarah is alive the spell will remain on him, it will slowly leave him but no one knows how long it will take to completely leave him, the only other option we have is to find the witch that cast the spell on him and to have her remove it but so far Annabella hasn’t been able to find out who it is and neither Marcus nor Sarah are willing to share that information so we’ve come to a block in the road, so Annabella came up with this idea, she thinks that if Liam thinks someone he cares for is getting hurt, his anger and need to protect will override the rest of the spell that’s left in him. So, what do you say, Bethany, will you help us with this sweetheart?”

“Of course, I’ll help Cal, I was just wondering why… I still don’t understand what’s going on really!”

“I know it’s hard to understand, it’s hard to try and explain it but you know how much Liam always protected you before this happened, he was like a big brother with you and we think that could be the trigger needed. You know I’d never let you do anything that would endanger you don’t you?”

“Of course, I do, I trust you, Cal!” My heart sinks for a moment at the mention that Liam only protected me like a brother until I remind myself that there’s no reason for it to be for any other reason even if I would give anything for it to mean more.

“Good, I promise nothing will happen to you, Jacoby won’t hurt you for real, it’s all for a show!”

“If your nervous about me being the decoy then I don’t mind you choosing someone else instead but I promise I won’t hurt you, Bethany, not on purpose anyway!” Jacoby looks genuine, I’m the one that’s asked everyone to give him another chance and this is a perfect way to show them that I’m doing the same.

“And let’s be honest, if Jacoby tried anything you’d take him down like nothing he’s ever seen before!” Jack adds in laughing to himself.

“Ahh, she’d f*****g destroy you, Jacoby, the girl is one insane fighter!” Ashley shouts out.

“I don’t doubt it, I’ve heard enough stories!” Jacoby looks at me with a gentle smile and I return it with one of my own, I don’t trust him yet, not even close but if he’s willing to risk his life to help Liam then he deserves a second chance from me.

We soon settle down and start working out a plan of action and when it will happen, if doing this means a good chance of getting Liam back to normal then I’m more than happy to get it done right away, I miss the old Liam and the sooner Sarah’s claws are out of him the better!

Beta Liam

“Everyone pair up, I want you to practice defence, Toby you will pair with me today.” He nods over to me before heading my way from the back of the grounds, he looks a little nervous and I get it, I’ve never personally trained with him before but while I’ve lost some of my memories, thankfully none of them relates to training so I can keep at this as normal.

“Toby don’t look so nervous, there’s nothing wrong, if truth be told, I was checking the warrior records this morning and noticed you’re not ranked at all and I’m struggling to understand why. I’ve watched how you’ve helped me and the Alpha with…recent issues, how you’ve presented yourself, your strength and loyalty have not gone unnoticed, and now I want to see your moves and how you fight.” He seems shocked but in a good way before nodding and getting into position.

30 minutes later, I bellow out for everyone to switch up before turning my attention back to Toby, “Toby you are a seriously good fighter why-“

“Sorry I’m late Liam, I got held up sorting out some stuff for Alpha!” Jack quickly appears at my side.

“No problem, Jack we are practising defence today, they’ve just switched off and I’ve been training with Toby here!”

“I know, I’ve been watching for the last 5 minutes, what rank are you, Toby?”

“I’m not ranked, Gamma Jack!” He looks as shocked as I felt earlier when I heard the same thing.

“I just told him he’s a seriously good fighter!” Jack is quick to agree with me.

“Toby, why haven’t you asked for a match? You should definitely be ranked!” Cal treats all the warriors the same here, they don’t get ranking just because of blood or links to anyone. They have to fight for it, earn it also, anyone in the pack can be challenged for their position, I’ve been challenged twice for Beta and Jack once for the Gamma position.

“I don’t know Beta; I suppose I’ve never felt worthy enough to reach the ranks and now…well I’m 41 so…” The warrior rank holds the top 50 warriors after that they get classed as lower-class warriors not that me, Jack or Cal ever consider them as low in any regard, they fight alongside everyone and deserve just as much respect any anyone else.

“Please consider requesting a match, I personally believe that you will reach the rankings no problem, your age doesn’t matter and I’d hate to see you sell yourself short!”
