Chapter 135
Love
Ellis had been through the withdrawal, and it was terrible for him. His fever went up and down so abruptly. I couldn’t help but feel so much anger towards Charlotte. She was the reason my mate was in pain. I will have to visit her soon to give her a taste of my fist.
I watched Ellis sleep after giving him the medicine my aunt gave me. I decided to call my brother. I could tell by his voice that he wasn’t alright.
“Love,” he croaked. My heart shattered for him, and I wanted to hug him.
“I heard what happened from Aunt Selene. I’m sorry,” I said softly.
“She lied to me. Elizabeth betrayed me,’
“Don’t rush to make any decisions right now. You’ll regret it if you do,” I told him.
The council wants her dead. However, I can’t do it. I need to find a way to save her and keep her away from the pack,” he sighed.
After talking to my brother, I went to the children’s rooms to prepare them for school. I first went to my daughter’s room. She was a heavy slumber, and as for Cayden, I only needed to wake him up once. I ripped the duvet off her. A growl escaped her lips as she turned. I shook her gently until she sat up,
“Mummy!” she squealed, glaring at me. I stared at her without flinching.
“Time to get ready. Go brush your teeth; I’ll be with you soon.”
“Is Dad taking us to school today?” she asked. I shook my head. Ellis has been avoiding the kids since he fell sick. He didn’t want them to see him in such a weak state, but they missed him dearly.
No, sweetheart,” I answered.
She sputtered for words but closed her mouth. She sighed and got out of bed to go to the bathroom.
After getting the twins ready for school, I went to the bedroom to get ready myself. Ellis was turning and tossing in bed. I quickly got ready and kissed his forehead before exiting the bedroom. I was only going to drop off the kids and collect my laptop from my office so that I could work from home.
I dropped my kids off at school and went to the office. To my surprise, I found David there. He recovered in three days. He was still pale but looked better now, as I had seen him last.
“David,” I sighed.
“Love, can we talk?” he asked. I nodded and guided him to my office. I sat on my seat, and he took the chair before me. I glared at him, and when our eyes met, I saw regret and shame in his eyes,
“I’m sorry,” he started. David paused for a moment,” For everything. I don’t know where I lost control of my life.”
“Did you always want to use me for my inheritance?” I asked finally.
“No, and yes. When I got into debt and my family refused to help me, I looked at you as the way out. However, I honestly cared and loved you,” he confessed. I appreciated that he was being honest with me.
“I still love you, and I’d like another chance, but we know that won’t happen,” he smiled faintly.

“Thank you for coming to help me even though I didn’t deserve it. I promise I’ll pay back the money.”
“There’s no need to pay me back, David,” I said. He shook his head, but I insisted. I had heard from Michael that he had been fired, so things would be hard for him. I was afraid he would enter into new debt in an attempt to pay back the money.
