Chapter 169
I took every hit gladly. I couldn’t fight back and risk my mate’s life.
Love screamed in pain for me to fight him. Her sporadic voice broke my heart. I felt a hollow space in my chest her pleas and cries continued.
‘Eli, you idiot. I hope you’ve killed that bastard,’ I heard my sister’s voice in my mind. She was close/They wer close.
‘Oh, I want. I’m hungry to do that- however, if I fight back. He will kill her,’
I was having a hard time speaking.
‘Shit!’ she hissed. Maleck pinned me to the ground. I saw satisfaction in his eyes as he wanted to end my life.
‘I have eyes on Love. I can reach her before the closest rogue to her does. So, kill that fucking bastard!’
‘Reach her first,’
‘Trust me, I will get to Love,’
‘Trust me, I will get to Love,’
‘I trust you,’ I shrugged Maleck off. He wasn’t expecting it. I embedded my claws in his flesh, and a loud howl escaped. He knew his end was near. Before I could deliver a final blow, I glanced at Love. She was safe. My sister and Luis were fighting off the rogues trying to attack her. I bit down on Maleck’s neck and ripped his heart from his chest.
He was dead. I had killed him. I changed back to my human form and rushed to my mate. Todd and Lila were already by her side. They were crying. I knelt and removed the hair covering her face. She was breathing, but barely. Her body was exhausted from what she’d been through. I cradled her fragile body in my arms. I couldn’t help but kiss her. They tortured her. Lias let out a whimper as I nuzzled my nose against her neck. A warm tear escaped my eye.
Alpha – we should take her to the hospital. She’s lost too much blood, and those cuts on her belly and arms are too deep. They need professional care,” Todd explained.
“I’ll ask someone where the clinic is,” Lila sniffed.
I carried my mate in my arms, hugging and kissing her. The surrounding fights were almost dying, and I noticed some wolves from the pack were watching with fear.
Jace and Michael shifted. They wore shorts and came to me.
“She doesn’t look well,” Michael whispered. Jace kissed her forehead and stroked her hair. I saw his gaze fill with sadness.
“I’ll talk to the people,” he said. I only nodded. Lilac and Todd were back.
“There is a clinic not far, just down the road,” Lilac said.
I rushed towards the small clinic. I contemplated letting someone attend to my mate, but I strongly desired to run with her to the city to get proper care. However, she needed treatment.
The nurses in the hallway went hiding once they saw us.
“Call a doctor,” I commanded to no one in particular.
A tall, thin woman walked out, wearing a lab coat and small round glasses that didn’t suit her face.
She gasped when she saw Love and then bowed to me. The doctor pointed to one of the male nurses. He brou stretcher and was ready to take her from my hands, but I growled at him. He backed away so fast.
“No, show me the room. I’ll stay with her.”
“Alpha, she is safe. She will need stitches and proper care. I advise you to hand her over to us.”
I wasn’t going to leave my mate with them.
“I’m staying in the room as you treat her.” My decision was final. The doctor exhaled.
“We’ll need to take off her clothes to stitch her. Also, my two nurses will help me. Will you be able to tame yourself?” she asked me questionably. I was already on edge. I didn’t want anything that would endanger my
mate’s life.
Ellis, they need to work on her without fear. You’ll growl at them every two seconds if they touch her,” Lilac reasoned. She was right.
“I’ll contain myself and my lycan,” I said. The doctor nodded and asked me to follow her to a room.
I laid my mate on the bed. The doctor cut off her top with a pair of scissors, and what I saw made me growl. Un that torn shirt she wore were deeper cuts.
They injected her with anesthetics and then started cleaning up her injuries. Even unconscious, she still winced from pain. I didn’t move from my position against the window for over an hour.
After all was done, Love looked slightly better. When the medical practitioners left the room, I sat in the chair beside her and held her delicate hand.
“I’m sorry you went through this. It was my fault,” I whispered.

room I was in, yet it was still blurry. I winced at the throbbing headache I felt.
‘You’re awake!’ Vee beamed. She seemed to have fully recovered her strength and returned to her usual self.
‘Vee,’
“I think she’s waking up, Cay,” I heard my mate’s distant voice. It was so good to hear the warmth in his voice but my vision was still distorted.
“Mommy?” I heard a small voice call me. A small, delicate hand touched me.
“Hi, baby,” I smile.
Hi, Mommy. I’m glad to see you’re awake.”
As I regained my senses, my gaze landed on my baby boy. I wanted to chuckle and cry in happiness.
My eyes searched around until they found Ellis. He was smiling at me, bent down, and kissed my forehead.
