Chapter 110

Dominic’s POV

The folder was still on my desk long after Isa left the room.

I hadn’t touched it since Isa left.

I hadn’t needed to.

The numbers were burned into my skull.

99.8%.

The child Alessia was carrying was mine. That’s what these reports were saying.

But how? How the hell was that even possible? Sure, we spent a lot of time together because of work. But I had never touched her, never even looked at her that way. I didn’t remember ever getting sexually involved with her. Then how had this happened?

Alessia had told me herself that it had been a one night stand with some random stranger. Then how could this DNA report be true?

My hands clenched at my sides as I stood and walked straight towards Alessia’s room.

She was sitting stiffly at the edge of the bed when I entered without knocking, back straight, fingers twisted together in her lap. She looked smaller than she ever had, careful, wary, like she knew exactly how close she was to detonating something she couldn’t control.

“What the hell is this?” I demanded, throwing the folder at her feet.

She flinched.

“I-”

“Why,” I cut in sharply, “did you go to Isabella instead of coming to me?”

Her eyes filled instantly.

“I didn’t know how else to handle it,” she said, her voice breaking “You were distant. Busy. And she deserved to know.”

“That was not your call,” I snapped.

Tears spilled over, sliding down her cheeks. “Please don’t yell.”

The words hit something raw in me.

I exhaled slowly, dragging a hand down my face. Losing my tener wasn’t going to get answers. It would only make things worse. I took a seat on the chair a few feet away from her bed. Hnestly, I didn’t want to be anywhere near a bed or her, but this conversation was important.

“Sit,” I said more quietly, gesturing to the chair across from me. And tell me exactly what happened.”

She wiped at her eyes, nodding, and took a shaky breath beforeoming over and sitting across from me.

“It was after the Marseille meeting,” she began. “The contract went through. Everyone was celebrating.”

I closed my eyes briefly.

“You were drinking,” she continued. “More than usual. You were most happy. Careless. I hadn’t seen you that way in a long time. Not since….not since Isabella left.”

My stomach tightened. I remembered flashes. Laughter. Music. The taste of whiskey. Then nothing.

“I woke up alone in a hotel room the next morning,” I said. “I thought Eduardo had put me there.”

“He did.” Alessia said softly. “After.”

After.

The word echoed.

Guilt crawled up my spine. I’d just wanted to forget the world that night. Forget everything. Suddenly, a thought crossed my mind and I looked at her. “Did I force myself on you?”

Her head snapped up. “No. Dominic, no.”

I held her gaze, searching for even a flicker of hesitation. There was none.

“Then why didn’t you stop me?” I asked quietly.

She swallowed hard. “Because I didn’t want to.”

The admission hung between us.

“I’ve had feelings for you for a long time,” she said, tears spilling again. “I never acted on them. Never would have. I knew after Isabella, you didn’t even want to look at a woman. I knew you were grieving her loss, so I never said anything. But that night, you were drunk, vulnerable, and I didn’t have the strength to push you away.”

I turned away, jaw tight.

“This should never have happened,” I said.

“I know,” she whispered. “And if you don’t want to be involved, I understand. I was about to tell you, but then Isabella came back and I couldn’t. You have Isabella. You have Mateo. I don’t want to disrupt that.”

I spun back towards her, anger flaring sharp and immediate.

“Don’t be ridiculous,” I said. “You think I’d abandon my own chil?”

She stared at me, stunned.

“This wasn’t planned,” I continued, voice firm. “It was a mistake. But that doesn’t erase responsibility.”

Her shoulders shook as she broke down completely, sobs wracking her frame.

I crossed the room before I could stop myself, placing a hand on her shoulder, steady but distant.

“It’s going to be handled,” I said quietly. “The child will be taken are of.”

She nodded through tears. “Thank you.”

I stepped back, suddenly exhausted.

Because even as I spoke, my mind was already racing ahead to , to Mateo. To the look in her eyes when she’d slapped that folder on my desk. To the trust I’d fractured beyond recognition

How was I going to explain this?

How was I going to fix any of it?

I was barely able to wrap my head around all of this, I had no idea what I was going to do next.

I’d already made a huge mistake by not telling Isa about Nico. And now this.

And Isa knew about it, too. I wished Alessia hadn’t gone to her and come to me first instead. I would’ve told Isa everything myself, but maybe it would’ve hurt less coming from me.

I almost wanted to lash out at Alessia. To yell at her that why had she gone to Isa first instead of coming to me. But what good was that going to do now? What’s done was done. I was going to have a child with Alessia. And Isa knew about it.

As Alessia cried softly behind me, one thought pressed down heavier than all the rest.

This time, there was no strategy.

No clean solution.

Only consequences I had to deal with.
