His Plump Mate (Book 1: The 'His' Series) novel Chapter 371

Chapter 371

Aiden POV

“A cold war is happening right now?” I asked.

“Yes.” Damaro said. “Julian is patient. He is not going to attack now. He is unprepared and wants the chosen one first. He will come after Mi.” 1

Thalia looks like she is staring off into space. “Moon Goddess told us to merge with Ironclaw, What is significant about Ironclaw?” She asked looking at me.

My dad speaks up, “Years ago, Ironclaw and Blackstone were alliances. This was during my grandfather’s time. During that time, both packs worked together to find the mines. As you know, we did. The alpha of Ironclaw at the time told my grandfather to keep the mines. He gave up his claim and then went into an alliance with my grandfather. Ironclaw went into steel manufacturing. When the next alpha took over Ironclaw, he refused to enter into an alliance with my father. Instead, he wanted ownership of the mines for the next fifty years, but that would have left Blackstone desolate and they weren’t giving us anything in exchange. It created a feud between Ironclaw and Blackstone until I killed Cullen for kidnapping and trying to rape your mother.”

His eyes darkened at the end of the story. I didn’t know about this history. I’m glad he is saying something now, but then that begs the question, “Ironclaw still exists though. So, is it another heir?” I asked. I haven’t had much interaction with Ironclaw.

“No. it’s not an heir. After I killed Cullen, the beta at the time was Max. The council promoted him to Alpha and then after his death, his son Paul took over as Alpha.”

“I know Paul. He is a piece of work. He always has a different woman on his arm. I’ve heard he isn’t a good alpha either. Always ignoring the complaints of his pack members. How am I supposed to merge with that pack?” I asked.

Dad looks at me, “I don’t know, son. Max was a good alpha. I don’t know what happened to his son. We are going to have to figure out a strategy though.”

I look at Damaro, “How is this important?”

“The prophecy says that many packs blessed by the Moon Goddess will fight in the war. Wolves against several created Shadow Maws. Only those blessed by the Moon Goddess will be able to defeat them and win the war.” Damaro said. “I believe Julian is creating the Shadow Maws. He is turning people and training them at a rate we cannot stop. Even if we take him out, he has a contingency plan.”

“How do you know this? You seem to know a lot about Julian.” I said.

“I know this because he is my nephew.” Damaro said.

Thalia looks up, “Wait, he’s, my cousin?”

Chapter

“Unfortunately, yes. He knows the prophecy well because he researched it in our archi throughout his childhood. One day he let it slip out that he wanted to find the chosen on defeat the werewolves. He saw our packs dwindling and blamed the werewolves.”

“Can I study the archives?” Thalia asked.

“Yes. In fact, I encourage Aiden to come with us. You both need to understand the archives as best as possible.”

“What else does the prophecy say?” I asked.

“During the cold war phase, which will last until the battle, there will be other battles that need to be fought. There will be more than one enemy. From those enemies, there will be a subset of people that will enter your ranks as friends, not foes. Those people will help tip the scales in the battle. But Thalia will be the one to make the final move.” He said.

“What final move?” Thalia asked.

“That…I don’t know. There have been speculations that it could be a sacrifice or an ultimate trump card that would eliminate the threats. You will absorb many gifts during this two-year period. You will also grow stronger but remain under radar.” Damaro answered.

“But Mia is a target. I can’t risk losing my sister.”

“There will be casualties on both sides. Who those will be, I do not know. But whatever happens is the Moon Goddess’ will.”

I sit back on how heavy our future is going to be. We are supposed to bring pups into this world during this time too? How will we keep them safe?

We call everyone back in and then explain to Luca and Mia what we discussed without telling them about the blood pact.

“I tried to enter into an alliance with Paul.” Luca said, “But his idea of an alliance is to take and give nothing in return. He is selfish and pompous. I don’t know how you are going to merge with him, Aiden.”

“I don’t know either.” I said. Then a thought occurs to me, “Should we approach the council about this?” Asking no one in particular.

Dad chimes in, “I don’t think it would hurt. We should have them come here though. Maybe after you deal with Diego. Perhaps we should move the timeline up and get it over with.”

“Edgar took over for his father Elias at the council some years ago. We should contact him. I agree though. We need to move the timeline up.” I said.
