Aric POV
Isaiah called Aiden and explained what Sinclair and I found. Then they all became excited. I’m not sure I understand why, but I will tell Sinclair about it later. Once we finished the meeting, Isaiah took Kaia to the dining hall to get food.
It was almost noon, and Sinclair and I told everyone we were heading back to the pack hospital to get the results. Sinclair’s eyes gave away her nervousness. Iris used to have that same tightness around her eyes when she got nervous. She has to be Iris’ twin. The twin no one knew existed.
As we are getting ready to go, Kaia stops us. “Aric, Sinclair, if you two are siblings, then I think you need to investigate who your parents really were.”
Sinclair gives a knowing look. “I know. Who were they, and who did they piss off?”
I looked at both of them. They really do act like sisters, but I’m listening to what they are saying. My parents weren’t bad people. They kept to themselves. I’m not sure what to make of the question. Either way, we start making our way to the pack hospital. Still, it’s bothering me what Sinclair said.
“What are your thoughts about our parents if we are siblings?” I asked.
Sinclair sighed, “Aric, if there is something I learned from being a hitman, it is that nothing is ever what it seems on the surface. Why would someone grab me? Did our parents ever look for me? Was I payment? Was I away for someone to get revenge against our parents? If so, why? Kidnapping a newborn from the hospital and then dumping said newborn in an orphanage is an act of revenge against the parents. No one does something like that because they are crazy. They do something like that because they are calculative.”
In all of the excitement of Sinclair possibly being my sister, I hadn’t stopped to think that far ahead. I mean, I have, but not to that extent.
“I don’t think it’s a coincidence that both our parents and my sister were killed by rogues, years apart. It was almost like completing that person’s revenge.”
“You think both attacks could be related?”
“I have a lot of possibilities moving through my mind. One thing is for sure, though: if we are siblings, then this was a revenge kidnapping. Luckily, I already have a starting place,” she said.
“You do?”
“Yup. The woman listed on the adoption papers as my mother is Cherise Clay. She is now Cherise Mandeb,” she said.
“How did you get the adoption papers?”
