Sinclair POV
Mali is whimpering in my head. Our mate came to apologize and hit me with the ‘Let’s be friends line. Seriously? Is the thought of being mated to me really that bad? I get that he is still healing from Amber, but I’m the one being sacrificed for it. He couldn’t say "let’s date" or anything that sounded more like moving forward together. He said, ‘Let’s start as friends.
Haven’t we been friends this entire time? Didn’t he like teasing me and joking with me? Haven’t we fought side by side, while Amber hid in the safe room? If he wants to be friends now, then what were we before?
‘Thor said he wants us. He said we are better than Amber and her wolf ever were. He said Adrian is being a jackass.’
‘Like I told you before, Mali, if the man doesn’t want us, it won’t matter what his wolf wants. Adrian doesn’t want me. I’m so sorry you are stuck with me.’
I slid down the door and let the tears fall. I tried to be strong in front of him, and it took a lot to hold my composure. His apology was self-serving at best and pathetic at worst.
There is another knock on my door. I wiped my tears and got up. I swung the door open. “What now, Adrian?”
Shit. It’s Thalia.
“He came to talk to you?”
I opened the door and let Thalia in. “Yeah,” I said, completely devoid of any enthusiasm.
“That bad?”
I sighed. “I can’t compete with a dead woman, Thalia. He apologized, but it was more for himself than for me. Then he friend-zoned me.”
Thalia’s eyes darkened. “He did what?”
“He apologized for embarrassing me and then asked to take things slow. When I asked what that looked like, he said he wanted to start out as friends while he heals,” I said. “I can’t be mad that he is still mourning Amber. I am trying to be understanding, but this stings.”
“Well, I sure as hell can be mad. You are his mate. You are supposed to be his priority, and he can’t even muster up a decent apology? I’m stabbing his ass.”
I laughed. “I needed that. Thank you.”
Thalia’s eyes softened. “Adrian has his head in his ass. He will come around, Sinclair.”
“I’m not waiting for him to figure it out, Thalia. I’m going to live my life.”
“Good! I’m with you!” she said, hugging me.
I was caught off guard by that question. “Um, I haven’t been asked, Mom.”
“What do you mean, you haven’t been asked? You are mated to my son. That automatically makes you the Beta female of this pack. You have every right to move to the beta floor.”
I smell his scent before I see him. “All things in good time, Mom.”
Adrian sits beside Jonah. Not in the chair next to me. Not in front of me either. He must feel trapped being mated to me. He can’t even stand to sit with me now. Before we were mates, he didn’t mind. Now, I’m the plague, and he clearly doesn’t want to be near me.
The food is served to everyone at the table. The omegas ran out of plates and said they would be back with more. It was almost twenty minutes later before I received a cold plate of food. Yup, high school all over again.
I pushed the plate away. “I’m not particularly hungry tonight. I’m going to bed. Good night, everyone.”
I turned and left. I reached my room and closed the door behind me. I changed my clothes and crawled into bed. Mali is angry that we went from being a respected pack member to being disrespected in a couple of days. I’m just tired. I’m hungry and tired. I pour myself some water from the water jug in my room, then curl myself under the covers.
I cried until I couldn’t anymore. I pull the blanket closer to me, acting like it’s a shield. Tomorrow I have my routine. I will follow it, like I always do.
“There are people relying on me. Just hold on a little longer, Sinclair. Hold on.”

What happened to the storyline? After Chp 100 it is a completely different story! This is terrible!...
So many missing chapters and repetitions. A different story altogether from chapter 101...
