Thalia POV

My heart is hurting so much. Mom is mourning over Jonah and Lacey. Her nerves are in shambles over Dad. Rory and Navy feel crushing guilt.

Aiden is even worse. His guilt weighs heavier on him than on anyone else. He’s the alpha. He is responsible for all the deaths. While our death tolls are significantly lower than Julian’s death toll, we still suffered losses.

I am sitting in the waiting room with Sinclair and Adrian. Everyone around us is somber. Today was a win and a huge loss. No one is saying anything, but then Tio comes running in. His eyes are full of excitement, and he is frantically looking at Sinclair.

Sinclair, Adrian, and I all stand up. “What happened, Tio?”

“Tell me you have not burned Jonah’s body. Tell me you still have Lacey’s body,” he said.

“Yes. We weren’t going to burn them until proper goodbyes were said,’ I said, and then asked. “Why? What is going on?”

“The passageways. They could change everything,” Tio said.

“What are you talking about?”

“We need Renz and Rory in those passageways. Lacey needs to be with Renz at one entrance—Jonah with Rory in the other. We don’t have much time. Let’s go, I’ll explain on the way,” Tio said excitedly.

‘Aiden, do you have eyes on Rory and Renz?’

‘I’m with Rory. Ask Mom about Renz. Why?’

‘Get Rory over to the waiting room, now. Tio said something about the passageways. He said we don’t have much time. I have to get Lacey and Jonah’s body.’

‘Why?’

‘Tio said he would explain on the way there. We don’t have much time. Hurry!’

I ran to Renz’s room. Navy and Renz were crying into each other’s shoulders. “Renz, you need to come with me now. Tio is saying we don’t have much time. Please trust him.”

“I don’t have anything left in me to keep going, Thalia.”

Tio comes behind me unexpectedly. “Then you miss the opportunity to help your mate. Get your ass up and move, Renz.”

Renz looked at Tio, shocked but also with a flicker of hope. “Fine. But tell me why.”

“I’ll explain on the way. Just move. Navy, come on,” Tio ordered with authority and urgency.
