His Regret Arrived Three Days Late novel Chapter 104

True love? Annika thought bitterly. Serena was indeed Conrad's one true love, the eternal, sacred light of his heart.

She had to find a way to excise her feelings for Conrad. Only by wanting nothing could her heart find peace.

She lay in bed, staring blankly at the large television on the wall, which was playing a popular Thai drama. Suddenly, her phone buzzed. It was Conrad. She answered the call.

"The doctor said Serena's condition isn't good," he said, his voice strained with anxiety. "I won't be coming back tonight. You should get some rest."

At his instruction, she responded with a docile, "Okay."

Annika's compliance filled Conrad with a wave of tenderness. His magnetic voice softened. "Annika, I can't leave her right now. She has nothing left. We have to save this baby."

"I understand," Annika replied mechanically. "Don't worry about me, I'm fine. Just focus on taking care of her."

Conrad was about to say more, but she had already hung up.

---

Annika woke just as the sky began to lighten and found she couldn't fall back asleep. She lay there, staring at the ceiling, lost in thought.

After breakfast, Estelle Beryl arrived.

"Annika, did Conrad not come home last night?"

Annika vividly remembered seeing Estelle trying to seduce Conrad at the Celestial Club. She knew exactly what Estelle was after.

"No," she replied coldly, her attention fixed on the game she was playing on her phone.
