His Regret Arrived Three Days Late novel Chapter 103

Annika didn't move, treating him as if he were invisible.

"Are you feeling sick?"

Conrad rolled up his sleeves, revealing his pale forearms. He reached out to check her temperature, but before his fingertips could touch her skin, she turned her head away.

The cool air slipped past his fingers. Suppressing a surge of anger, he forced a rare, gentle tone. "You can't let my baby go hungry."

With that, Conrad brought the tray over and, using a fork, held up a piece of broccoli to her lips.

Annika just lowered her head, her delicate white hands turning a page in her copy of *Impromptu Speaking*.

Her complete indifference left Conrad at a loss. He managed to control his temper and had Lana come back up to take the food away, telling her to cover it and save it for when Annika got hungry.

As Lana was about to leave with the tray, Annika stopped her. "Lana, just throw it out."

Lana looked from Conrad to Annika, then quickly agreed with a soft, "Yes, ma'am," and fled the room as if escaping a war zone.

"I know you're upset, but I had no choice, Annika. Please, don't do this," Conrad said, his voice tinged with exhaustion and a hint of pleading.

"I'll say it again: I'm not 'doing' anything. I'm simply not hungry and don't feel like eating," Annika replied before grabbing her clothes and heading into the bathroom to shower.

Frustrated, Conrad went out onto the balcony for a smoke.

When Annika emerged from her shower, the fresh scent of her body wash filled the room. A moment later, there was a knock on the door. She frowned and went to open it.

It was Lacey, the maid assigned to Serena.
